I would like to give you some information abut my side of the Carruth's.
My name is Roy Cornell Carruth, my father Van Paul Carruth, my Grandfather Wilburn Pinkney
Carruth better known as "Hobby" and my Great Grandfather Rev. John H. Carruth
and my Great Great Great Grandfather Adam Carruth. (I believe the last is right, I could
stand to be corrected).
I'll give you a little information on Rev. John and Adam.
Adam was borned in 1704 in Antrim County Ireland. He came to the US with his brother
Walter on the Ship "Deligance of Glasgow" in Jan 1729, another brother
(Alexander) and two sisters arrived about the same time.
Adam married Elizabeth Beattie and their children were:
James---------1744 - 1775
Mary----------1745 - ?
Robert---------1746 - 1815
John-----------1750 - 1828
Walter---------1752 - 1828
Alice-----------???????????--She married Wn.Grice April 2,
1780
Kitty-----------???????????--Married John Sloan, Sr. in 1837
Rev. John was the son of Leander P. Carruth born in 1823 in Madison Co., Ga. (Wife Mary
Hoover) Leander"s Father was Alford Carruth and Mother, Rebecca Echols.
(Leander P. Carruth was my G. G. Grandfather).
Rev. John was born in Cobb Co. Ga. Jan. 31, 1850 and he died in Rapides Parish, La. in
April 21, 1919.
His wife was Sidney A. Paul, born in Rapides Parish on the 5/10/1843---She died 7/6/1903
in Rapides Parish, her brother was Sheriff Paul of Rapides Parish.
Rev. John grew up in the Denmark Community of Lafayette County, Miss. He attened the Old
Shiloh Baptist Church which was built in 1874 at a cost of $200.00 and Ninety years later
sold for $310.00, the church had 31 pastors in 110 years. His children were--
Wilburn P. Carruth--1874 (My Grand Father)

The Mt. Olive Association gave Rev John a month off and he went back to Lafayette Co.,
Miss. to vist and preach at the Old Shiloh Baptist Church, this was some were around Feb.
to March of 1905.
