Hello,
Have updated my homepage, page three (link to page three at the bottom of page one), to
include immigrating ancestors ship records, and many additional census records. Of those
new records found, I found an additional Robert Carruth (Carroth) on the 1790 Census
record for North Carolina (Cumberland County) that I can't account for. Also, the
1755 record for Adam Curruth and 1793 records for Adam and Robert Curruth I found of
particular interest as well as a 1790 South Carolina Census record for Drury Carath. It
looks like the Robert Carroth on the Cumberland County, N.C. Federal Census for 1790 may
be the same Robt. Caruth Rev. found on the same Census in Rutherford County, N.C. The
entry for Robert in Cumberland County shows two males over 16, one male under 16, and four
females while the entry for Robert in Rutherford County shows 2 males over 16, 2 males
under 16, and 5 females. The other Robert Caruth found on the 1790 Federal Census, also
in Rutherford County, show!
s !
2 males over 16, 6 males under 1
6, and 2 females. The latter Robert Caruth here is no doubt immigrating ancestor Adam
Carruth's son. The first two shown above (I believe to be the same) are immigrating
ancestor Alexander Carruth's son Robert Carruth. Alexander was Adam's brother as
well as the brother of Walter Carruth whom all apparently immigrated from Ireland in 1729.
You can find Walter and Adam mentioned in the ship record I have posted. I can not find
another Robert Carruth to fit for the Cumberland County, N.C. entry and if anyone else has
an idea concerning this I would like to hear it. Also, the listing for Adam's son
Robert, showing two females is very interesting as he had two daughters who would not have
been old enough to be married in 1790. With only two females listed, I'm wondering if
maybe his wife had died. Perhaps this is the reason for finding conflicting information
on who his wife was as I have wrote about before. Additionally, there are a number of new
census records for Car!
ru!
ths found in N.C. and some other
s that could possibly be Carruths, but am not sure due to the spelling. As we no, the
Carruth name can be found spelled many different ways. Hope something found here is of
interest to you.
Best Wishes,
Harvey Carrouth
