Today was a wonderful day as, among other things, I uncovered a Carroll
connection that came as a complete surprise. I've not had a chance yet
to do any digging, but Elizabeth Carroll was born in Ireland, daughter
of John and Sarah Carroll. She married Bernard McElroy, and ultimately
settled in Rhode Island. Among their offspring was a daughter, Isabella
McElroy, who married Edward Tague, probably in the very early 1870's. He
eventually changed their names to from Tague to Montague, and had seven
children. Among them was my grandmother, their 5th child, Bessie.
Isabella Carroll McElroy Tague's other children were: Louisa Tague,
b.1874; Margaret, b.1876; John, b.1879; Joseph, b.1880; Bessie, b.1881;
Edward, b.1884; and Mary, about whom I have no information yet. Any
clues or information on any of these families would be most gratefully
received. Thank you.
