Hi Marla,
Please excuse the late reply from me, but have not had time to be on much
lately.
I did want to let you know that I have a JESSE CARROLL, also, so if you
haven't found more on yours, it's possible that your JESSE CARROLL b 1812
could be connected to my CARROLL family at some point...
I do not have all the names of the siblings on several of these, but here is
my line w/other ch whose names I've gotten from Huxford's "Pioneers of
Wiregrass Ga."
1. WILLIAM CARROLL
b. ?? place unknown at this time
d. before 1782 (date of will record.) Granville Co, NC
mar. ELIZABETH ______. (no other known facts on her yet)
2. son, JESSE CARROLL, (Sr.)
b ca 1749, NC
d 16 Aug 1801 Duplin/Sampson Co, NC
mar. 1769 to MARY RACHEL GAVIN, b ca 1752; d 19 Feb 1811 Duplin
Co, NC.
The ch of JESSE & MARY RACHEL (GAVIN) CARROLL
JOHN; THOMAS; MARY; JESSE; JOSEPH; & RACHEL [ the JESSE named
here was b 19 Oct 1774, m MARGARET (PEGGY) MERRITT, dau of ROBT.]
The above info from Huxford's "Pioneers of Wiregrass GA" Vol 3, pg 42-43.
3. son, JOHN CARROLL
b 03 Sept 1770 Duplin Co, NC
d 06 Dec 1826 Duplin Co, NC
mar (1) ELIZABETH HOLLINGSWORTH
b ca 1775/77
d ca 1803/02
(2) ANN HOLLINGSWORTH (sister of Elizabeth's)
[ch from both marriages: MARGARET m. WILLIAM LAMB (mine) &
JAMES - these 2 from 1st marriage. 2nd marriage produced JESSE b
1803; BENAJAH b 1805; LABAN b 1807; JOHN DURHAM b 1809;
EDWIN JOSEPH b 18--; CHARITY JANE b 18--; RACHEL JANE b
18--.
The above info also from Huxford's, "Pioneers of Wiregrass Ga." Vol 3,
pg
42-43
4. dau, MARGARET CARROLL
b ca 1799 Duplin Co, NC
d ca 1850/60 GA
mar ca 1831 (as 2nd wife) to WILLIAM LAMB,
b 1783 New Hanover
Co, NC
d 1862 Milltown,
Berrien Co, GA.
After posting all this, I do not see any JESSE here that could be yours - from
the b date of your JESSE, he could be a contemporary of JESSE who mar MARGARET
CHESNUT - (this JESSE is son of JESSE m MARY RACHEL (GAVIN) CARROLL. I do
think w/ his name, this might point to possible connections to this same line
of CARROLLs. So far I do not have any real info going back from # 1, WILLIAM
CARROLL, but strongly suspect they came into NC from VA.....
Hope this doesn't just confuse you or send you off in wrong directions, but
might warrant a look....
Good luck,
Sarah
