More thoughts on the interactive CD. If we did it as a simple memory book
thing for groups to get acquainted, we could keep the project simple in
tech terms. This would also mean that instead of paying to master it, we
could just write CDs on our little CD writers. We probably wouldn't have
so many that this would be out of the ball park at all. It might be a
useful first experience while we are gaining shared expertise and
teamwork skills.
It could still include:
group photos
group histories and/or bios
group teacher names and bios
some short readings
(it doesn't take much audio like readings to eat up a CD - what 75
minutes total? So we probably can't get extensive on this. Maybe someone
would like to do a CD of just transcript readings. I would enjoy doing
some reading, too.)
poetry, probably mostly in writing
art gallery
transcripts as text files - these don't take up as much space as some
things
etc
I would see this as a way for all of us in the mission across the country
to get an introduction to one another, even when we can't make it to all
the conferences. It could include those who have no group, too.
This is a very simple project, and perhaps a good one for starters. It's
one I would like to volunteer to produce, with Delores if she is inclined
in this direction. The interactivity could be very simple, and there
would be some emphasis on making it very attractive.
A project on the stillness sounds like a great one to do, too. I think we
should do both. Perhaps a different team could work on each, even if
those of us who can do the actual software to produce such a thing
(Delores uses Director, I use the simpler Astound) put it together. Rick,
you are obviously into this one and have already probably thought about
the material a lot. It would be great to collect people's meditation
stories. We have a number in our group, and I am sure every group has
them. Both Delores and I are used to doing graphics for these specific
purposes, which are similar in ways to web graphics, which we both do
professionally. I'd be interested to know if anyone else out there does
this kind of work?
In fact, it just comes to mind that a little resume from everyone would
be useful. It's not about competition, but cooperation. I would like to
know who does what. No humility here! And also who would like to do what
even if they don't yet know how. That's just as important. Our creative
dreams and goals are an important part of all this. LinEL works with us
all the time in fostering our creativity and has since the earliest days.
I think the school that some of us dream about can come partly out of
this working process, too. So many of the different activities that we do
can lead to that Melchizedek University that is so near and dear to many
of our hearts. I still believe that they expect US to build this, and
staff it, and with their guidance, prepare the curriculum, and continue
to experiment and change as we gain more and more knowledge of what is
needed.
What I want most is to make movies/ write "fiction". I have done a fair
amount of the latter, and none of the former. My greatest dream is a
surround-sound/visual EMAX or whatever it is called movie that gives a
person the cosmic experience of feeling the Father's love, the Ahvek, the
upliftingness, surroundingness, indwellingness of God. I think of parts
of the movie Contact, and others I have seen. I would like to make a
movie dedicated purely to that experience. Whew!
Hmmm, I seem to be getting carried away again here. Nothing new...
Love,
Thea
