Dear listers, i am having great difficuly in frinding any clues or linkeIn my
Carroll connection history and would appreciate any help that anyone can give
me. My aunt, Jane McIntyremarried a Charles N. Carroll. His father was
Charles C.Charles C. Carroll, who apparently was born in Ontario, Canada. I have not
been able to find any reliable information on his family in Canada
I am very sure that these canadian Carrolls were relatives of Carrolls living
in New York. Some of them apparently migrated into Canada from New Youk. I
also have reason to think that the Carrolls of Canada and New York may of been
related to the Barr familys on upper New York.
I do know that about 1861 Charles C. Carrollcame down from Canada to enlist
in onw of the New York Regiments to serve in our Civil War, after being
discharges, he settled in Crawford county, Pa. and married a Mary Ann Barr. It seems
that several of the New York Barr families l left that state and resettled in
the Crawfoord Co. Pa area around the early 1850s.
First founf this Charles C Carroll on the 1870 census of Crawford, co., Pa.
At that time he was going by the surname CARL, which I assurme was a French of
the surname Carroll. At that time Charles listed his occupation as that of a
brick manufacturer with a number of employees..
By the time of the 1880 census, he has changed occuoations to that of a oil
field worker, and th e family seemed ti continue in that employent for many
years, following the the oil booms of West Virgi nia, then on to the Ca. oil
booms..
Charles's wife, Mary Ann Barr was born in upper new York, Her Mother was also
born in New Youk. Her Father, occupation of farmer was born in Ireland. Would
appreciate hearing fronm any onewho knows of these relationships , i, e, New
York Carrolls with Canadian relatives,Barrs from upper New York relocating to
Crawford Co., Pa. and /or possible New York Carroll/ Barr relationships.THank
you very much. Kenneth L. McIntyre ( e/ mail ) vvmcintyre(a)aol.com
