I am a Carroll descendant. My great-grandmother was Ellen Carroll, born abt. 1866. Family
tales say her father was Thomas Carroll, born in US possibly, and that our Carrolls came
from County Cork. But my cousin states that the father is James Carroll, born in Ireland,
unknown county. Am trying to verify this as my Aunt insists it is not James but is also a
bit non-commital on Thomas being the father's given name. Anyway.
The Carrolls children include Ellen, my great-grandmother. She was born abt. 1866,
probably in New York City, but maybe in Missouri. Am waiting on her death certificate.
Another Carroll name is Catherine, sister to Ellen. Other possible siblings are Elizabeth,
Hugh, Owen, James, John. These Carrolls would be, if related, parallel to your V.
Ann's grandchilren's generation- and would be descended from one of the male
Carroll's you mention. Since I do not know my Ellen Carroll's grandfather's
name, and am unsure of her father's name, I'd like to explore this.
My father, Walter Hill, was born in 1920, NY. My grandmother Hazel Carroll Thomson-
Walter's mother- was born in 1898, NY. My great-grandmother- Hazel Carroll
Thomson's mother- was Ellen Carroll, born around 1866, NY or Mo or even County Cork,
Ire. My great-great-grandfather and great-great-grandmother, The Carrolls, were born abt.
1820 to 1840, born God-knows-where, most likely Ireland from what my cousin Carrolle says.
Only Mr Carroll would be descended from the Carrolls making him a possible child of one of
the male Carrolls you list.
I've logged your info and email and will email you if I find a connection. It's
all so confusing. Please get back to me if you find a connection. Thanks.
