For those who may be following my steps, I have made some finds on this subject. Please
feel free to contact me for further information.
Unk Carroll was born BET 1750-1770
Children of Unk Carroll are :
1. Anderson Carroll was born Bet 1780-1790 He married Winny F N Hurst 8 Jan. 1818 in Amite
Co, NS. She was born Bet 1780-1790.
2. Edward Carroll was born Bet. 1780-1810 He married Rebecca Lowry 9Jan
1830 in Amite Co. MS. She was born Bet 1790-1815.
3. John D. Carroll was born Bet 1780-1810 He marriec Rachel McGill 13Feb 1831 in Amite Co.
MS. She was born Bet 1785-1810.
4. Nancy Carroll was born Bet. 1785-1810 she married John Raborn 4 Oct 1825 in Amite Co.,
MS. He was born Bet 1775-1805.
There is a succession abstract in 1849 for Elizabeth Carroll, [wife of
Anderson Carroll]
On 10/6/1849 William Travis states that Mrs Elizabeth Carroll died recently
in this parish leaving two minor children: Henry Carroll and Amanda V.
Carroll. Travis was a distant relative and nearest neighbor.
10/16/1849 Family Meeting: John Carroll, John Smith, William Lea, James
Bellue, William Travis, Jackson Catha. John E. Smith was named tutor and
John Carroll, under tutor. Land to be left in charge of tutor.
11/19/1849 SALE OF PERSONAL PROPERTY. {16 purchasers named and it was
mentioned that Deceased was the wife of Anderson Carroll deceased.
An intereting find was the succession of HENRY HURST in 1825. He died Nov.
4, 1825 leaving a widow and heirs and one of the heirs was Winney Hurst wife
of Anderson Carroll. William Travis [probably same as above] of Amite
County, MS filed the first petition. Widow is Rosanna Hurst nee Hicks.
Other info and names are in the record. Nancy Hurst, one of the heirs of Henry is the
wife
of Travis.
Anderson and John Carroll are on the St. Helena Assessment Roll for year
1826. Johnis a surveyor with 640 acres on the Amite River and Anderson is a
farmer with 200 acres on D. C. D. C. is probably Deep Creek.
