This doesn't make sense... Perhaps I am misreading, but it appears that
you are attibuting the accomplishements of CHARLES Carroll to Daniel

...Daniel entered the political arena, elected to the Continental Congress, carrying news
to Philadelphia that Maryland was ready to accede to the Articles of Confederation, which
bears his name. He also toured in the Maryland Senate that was to span his lifetime and
helped George Washington promote the Patowmack Company, a plan to canalize the Potomac
River to provide transportation between the East and Applachian West. In 1789 he won a
seat in the US House of Representatives. In 1791 George Washington named him as one of
three commissioners to survey and define the District of Columbia, where Carroll owned
much land. Due to poor h!
ealth, he resigned this position 4 years later and died the following year at 65 at his
home near Rock Creek in Forest Glen, MD. He is buried in St. John's Catholic Cemetery
there. His other brother John Carroll, was the first Roman Catholic Bishop in the U.S.
Charles (1737-1832) born in Annapolis, MD. In 1775 he was elected to the Continental
Congress and in 1776 signed the Declaration of Independence. He resigned in 1778 to serve
in the Maryland state Senate, serving from 1789 to 1792. He was the last surviving signer
of the Declaration of Independence. Hope this helps.
