Mr. W. G. Carroll, of Union Point, who was a telegraph lineman, attempted
to fix a wire at Social Circle on Thursday. While pulling a nail from a beam
he was struck by lightning and instantly killed. He fell across the wire
and hung suspended in the air until his body was taken down by means of a
rope.
He was a good man, highly esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and
daughter, besides many friends and relatives to lament his tragic death.
