My Carrolls are also buried at Olathe, Kansas, 1880s, but were
Presbyterian, not Catholic. Anthony Wayne Carroll, and his family, along
with Spragues, who were in-laws.

Message Board Post:
I'm trying to locate siblings and the parents for my great grandmother,
Catharine Burke (nee Martin) and her brother, Francis "Frank" Martin in
Iowa circa 1840's to 1859---and maybe earlier than 1840.
Catharine Martin married Michael John Burk~e at St. Raphael's Catholic
Cathedral, Dubuque, Dubuque, IA on SEP 16, 1850. In the 1850 census, this
family is living in Butler Township, Jackson county, Iowa. Catharine's
husband, Michael John Burke was a Government Land Surveyor in Iowa,
Minnesota, & Kansas. He was also a school teacher and a farmer. Michael
John was born JAN 1, 1812, Kilcolgan, County Galway, Ireland and emmigrated
to Iowa in 1848.
Frank Martin was born circa 1824 & Catharine was born circa 1826,
(possibly)
County Antrim, Ireland. I haven't yet validated where in
Ireland they were
born. They are both buried at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery,
Olathe,
Johnson county, Kansas.
Does anyone have information to share about the following couple? The
early MARTIN
line in Iowa is difficult to search because the surname could
be
French, German, or Irish. My MARTIN line is Irish.
I appreciate any feedback as the MARTIN line in Iowa and Ireland is my
brick
wall". Thank you.
Carol
