I realize that this list is not for sharing virus information, but
due to
the large number of
viruses now circulating among list members I am sending a little more
on
the virus situation. I got
one today from a member of another mail list.
In addition to
http://www.pcpitstop.com that Cathie mentions in her
letter
below, there are at
least 2 other sites where one can have a FREE scan of their computer.
They
are:
FREE online SCAN
http://www.centralcommand.com/scan.html
FREE online SCAN
http://housecall.antivirus.com/
One of the best anti-virus programs available for the computer is also
FREE. It can
be downloaded
from the following site and then can be kept up to date with FREE
updates.

Cathie said not to open attachments from people you don't know.
Unfortunately
your best friend can
also send you a virus!! A better rule of thumb might be: DON'T
OPEN
ATTACHMENTS - unless you save
the attachment to the hard drive and scan with anti-virus software
prior
to opening it OR you
receive a letter from the person ahead of the letter containing the
attachment telling you to expect
it and what the attachment contains.
My own brother recently informed me he would no longer open attachments
from me
without the
preceding letter. He has a lot of information on his computer he
cannot
afford to lose because of
one virus. I now write a brief note to anyone to whom I plan to send
an
attachment telling them what
to expect. Many people now delete mail containing attachments without
opening it - no matter who
sent it. If you want your mail read, better not send as an attachment
or
write a preceding letter.
Let's keep our computers clean - IF WE CAN.

| In the last four attachments that I've received from people I don't know
| have contained viruses. Thankfully I've got Norton which took care of
the
