My ggggrandfather, William Carroll, was a cousin of Charles Carroll of
Carrollton. That would mean that their fathers were brothers. Any
information you have would be very helpful. Do you have your genealogy
on line? Many thanks for the help. Myra

My ancestor, John Carroll, was brother to Charles. Charles' wife's name was Mary
Darnall, daughter of Henry Darnall, the surveyor general of the colony. Our family
records refer to the "Carroll Mansion of Doughoregan Manor." (built 1717) Their
eldest daughter was Polly who married Richard Caton. HIs second daughter was Catharine,
who married Robert Goodloe Harper. I'm sure you know that Charles Carroll was one of
the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence and the only Catholic. He may have also
been the most wealthy
When he returned from a trip to Britain his father gave to him Carrolton Manor in Ann
Arundel County and from that time he was known as Charles Carroll of Carrollton.
