So, Rowan county makes sense, since the marriage took place in 1792.
There was no Davidson county at that time. And there's no other
county who's name is remotely similar to "Dawson".

Elaine.... According to these maps, Davidson Co, NC was part of Rowan
Co until 1822. In fact, Rowan was one of the first counties in that
area, and therefore the early records of many others are in that
county.
