I akm also researhing a Carroll Family from Ontario, Canada. I should note
that the family wereusing the suname " Carl " while in Canada. Chjarles Carroll
, of that family came down into New York to enlist and serve in our Civil war
with one of the New York Residents. He later married a Mary Ann Barr at
Titusville Pa. At the time of the 1870 CRawford Co. , Pa. they were going by the
surname "Carl ". He was a brick manufacture at that time ,but by the time of the
1880 census had switch his occupation to oil production. This family relocated
to West Virginia to work those oil fields and later to Ca. to work those.
A good many of the Carrolls, that settled in that part of Canada were , I
believe were from upper New York. In, fact it is claimed that at that at the time
of the 1869 census of Ontario, somewhere around 80 % of those enumerated were
from the U.S. Mostly New York, New Jersey and PA.The Barr family were also
fromupper New York and were most likey relatives of the Carrolls. A number of the
Barr families left New York in the 1830, 1840, and 1850 time periods and went
to Crawford Co. Pa. It is believed that these New York, Canada , Pa and later
Ca. Carrolls were relatives of the famous Carrolls of Maryland. Feel free to
