For Ray, who asks:
SARAH, YOU WROTE:
<< Don't know if this is generally known or not, but here's some info I
had
found awhile back & think it might help narrow the dates of Jesse CARROLL,
Sr's death. According to info from the books on Sampson County Court
Minutes, 1800 -
1810, our Jesse CARROLL, Sr probably died between dates of 16 Aug 1809 &
13 Nov 1809. >>
"WHICH JESSE CARROLL IS THIS? I AM RESEARCHING ONE WHO IS THE SON OF
WILLIAM CARROLL OF LINCOLN COUNTY NC. THIS ONE MOVED TO GEORGIA AND HAD A SON
NAMED JESSE WHO MAY BE THE FATHER OF MY ELIJAH CARROLL.
RAY"

Hello Ray,
We may have "talked in the past" - your email seems familiar.
The JESSE CARROLL, Sr of whom I spoke is the JESSE CARROLL, Sr, RW, b ca
1739 ? - d bet 16 Aug 1809 & 13 Nov 1809, mar Mary Rachel (GAVIN).
They had ch, among whom, son John CARROLL b Sept 1770 NC - d 1826 NC who mar
1st w, Elizabeth HOLLINGSWORTH, (which is my line) ; 2nd wife, Ann "Nancy"
HOLLINGSWORTH (which is Jackie Purdy's line, of this list) ...these girls
were sisters, daus of James HOLLINGSWORTH & Elizabeth "Betsy" (MERRITT).
Some have thought & said that this JESSE CARROLL, Sr, RW was the son of a
William CARROLL & w, Elizabeth (_____) - this William had will in Granville Co,
NC in 1782 & the consensus among those of us who have researched this, is
that this could not be so - as the Jesse Carroll named in that father's will,
1782, was not "of age" - Our JESSE CARROLL, Sr was involved in land purchases
in the 1760's, so would have been "of age" to do so some 20 yrs prior to
that will.
Hope that brings some clarity & help to you & others,
Sarah Howell Studstill
