Afraid I can be of little or no help. My gr-gr-grandfather, John McCarroll left no
records that I have found. His tombstone, erected by his grandchildren, claim he was born
in county Antrim. His daughter, my gr-grandmother, buried beside him, born in county
Derry. They were Roman Catholic, farmers and he claimed to have once been a fisherman.
They had friends named Kearney also from county Derry. The Kearney's were from the
Magherafelt area. Perhaps John McC, the fisherman, paddled across Lough Neagh, married a
lass and had a family in Derry before ssiling to America. I have found no ship's log
for him or daughter Annastasia. She married Timothy Shanahan in 1855, in Harford county,
Maryland. I currentl live about a mile from the church where they were married.
Dan Shanhan
