I should have added that Peter Wilson Coleman made it clear in his book that he knew he
did not have all the names of persons transported to the American colonies - only the ones
for whom he could find records. The ship captains sometimes did not record the name of
those in bondage. Many of the records had gotten wet and simply decayed. A fire at the
courthouse in Dublin destroyed the rolls of manuscript with the names of many.
So just because you do not find a person in the list I posted, that does not mean they
might not have been brought to the colonies as a convict, a kid on the street at the time
the patrol was picking up the "trouble makers", or a man who could not pay his
debts.
If that is how my CARROLL ancestor got to the colonies, I'm very glad the decision was
made to "transport" him.
