I'm not sure of when he was born or passed away. I'm afraid. I'm asking
around some of the family that's still alive to see if they may be able to estimate
it. One of their children a "Nelson Ray Carroll" was born in 1942 so I assume
they were still together around then.
This is my my G-grandmothers Obit
GREENVILLE - Mary Susie Carroll, 90, of Greenville, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at
Maple Manor Nursing Home in Greenville. Mrs. Carroll was born September 25, 1921 in Logan
County. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Nelson Ore Carroll; and daughter, Mary Carroll.
Her son Nelson Ray passed away just a few years after her:
Nelson Ray Carroll, 71, of Greenville, died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 11:51PM at
Baptist Health in Madisonville. Mr. Carroll was born November 13, 1942 in Union County. He
was an assembly worker at Schwinn Bicycle in Chicago, and he was of the Baptist faith. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Mary Carroll; sister Mary Susan Carroll;
and brother Alvin Lee Carroll.
A majority of that part of the family lived in Chicago, illinois at some point but I
don't know time frames. One of there other children was actually born there I believe.
But as far as my life span I've only known my grandmother and several of her children
to live in Kentucky in Hopkins and Muhlenberg counties.
Oh! I was on the phone while I was typing this...here's some new info on "Nelson
Ore"
My grandmother (his daughter) says he died in 1959 at approx age 41 so he was born around
1918. He was supposedly from "McVeigh" KY. He is supposed to be buried in
Fairview Cemetery in Williamson, West Virginia. BUT my grandmother says some one went
there to search for his plot and gravestone and could not find him-neither could the over
seer of the cemetery. Some one has a copy of his obituary in the family but I don't
have access to it and I have been unable to locate "Nelson Ore" anyway I have
searched for him.
The paper obituary from what I'm told was "Williamson News. Williamson W. VA.
Dated Nov 30 1959. He was supposed to have died the Friday before the publication with an
"Allen Funeral Home" being in charge.
That's absolutely about all the information I have on him. I hope you have some leads
for me to hunt! Thanks for the reply!
