To answer your DNA question: Yes, one of my cousins who has done extensive genealogy
research, and I have participated in the Carroll project. His data (not mine of course)
is posted on the DNA chart through FTM. Our earliest ancestor was Elisha Carroll of NC.
We sponsored several male relatives (as many as he could find) to participate in the DNA
project as well. For a time, I communicated with several of our Carroll relatives,
including ones in Texas, Florida, and still in NC.
My cousin, William James Carroll (Jim) is still heavily involved in research; he has
published one edition of our Carroll ancestry in spiral-bound paperback, and hopes to
publish a later, hard-bound edition. The name, James Alfred Carroll, sounds awfully
familiar, so perhaps he is one of ours, I just can't remember.
I am sorry to learn that your father has passed away. My father died in 1993 at the
age of 83. I would be pleased to share any info I have with you. My home e-mail is
lchammock(a)bellsouth.net. I am still notified by the Family Tree Carroll Project when a
close relative is tested. My sponsored individuals tested to 67 markers, but my cousin
Jim has gone further into the hundreds (I forget the number).
I look forward to hearing from you again.
Linda

My GG Grandfather's name was James Alfred Carroll, born in TN around 1826. We believe
he is the son of Henry Carroll (brother to Alfred Carroll). My GG Grandfather had a son
named James Madison Carroll and this Great Grand Uncle named his son James Alfred
Carroll... I think we have a connection Linda.
Has any male of your Carroll line done a DNA? We did...my daddy passed away in 2009. All
of my line remained in Bradley County, TN... the rest went to MO and out west.
Thanks,
Kathy
