Message Board Post:
My GGGGF married a Bridget Carroll and using the irish naming convention which they seemed
to use in their naming of their children I deduced her father's name would be John.
Bridget was born in 1815 in Tipperary came to Ottawa where she married into my family.
But some of the church records shows her name spelled as "Cahill" which if you
had poor handwriting I think it could be listed like that? Or vice versa?
What do you think? Is it possible that the two could have been mixed up or related at one
point? I keep trying to say the name in my head with an irish accent to see if it would
be similar.
One thing for sure her marriage record there is no doubt in 1831 her name was Carroll.
