Message Board Post:
From research tonight - George Washington Denton was in the 1850 and
1860 censuses for Paulding County. I can find no Sarah Carroll in Paulding in 1850 -
there were 2 Sarah Carrols in the 1850 census - one in Walker County and one in Hancock
County (daughter of John D. Carroll). I did find a M. R. Carroll listed in the census for
1860 in Paulding County who with his wife were of age to have a 21 year old daughter who
could have been the oldest child and married in 1855 - strictly conjecture. I find no
trace of the John D. Carroll (son of Harvell Carroll) in the 1860 census. To truly
determine to which Carroll family Sarah belonged, I believe you will have to find the M.
R. Carroll family in 1850 to determine if they had a daughter named Sarah. If they did,
it is highly likely this is the Carroll family from which Sarah was sired. If she
didn't come from this family, you need to somehow connect the John D. Carroll to
Paulding County. If they were in Paulding County in!
!
1860, living fairly close to the Denton family, I believe you would at least have a
circumstancial case. H I can definitely eliminate the Sarah, daughter of John Douglas
Carroll, son of Richmond Carroll, as they were in Mississippi in 1850. Hope this helps.
