Bad Fire at Nederland
Denver--A Republican special says..The entire town of Nederland, in the western part of
Boulder county, was practically destroyed by fire Friday.
Ten buildings were destroyed. The fire, when discovered, about 10 o'clock, was eating
its way out the roof of the second story W. L. Scott's general store. It caught in a
room on the upper floor and was beyond control when the fire spread to the E. W.
Watt's saloon on the east and then to Reinhardt's restaurant. It took to the pool
room of Carroll Bros., the large two story hotel just completed and occupied for the first
time the day before, and then, burning northward, destroyed the new home of H. Wolhke and
another saloon. The residence of H. Wolhke was blown up by dynamite to prevent the spread
of the fire. In addition to the loss of his house and furniture, which was total. He also
lost $500.00 in money, there being no bank in the town. The total loss will be about
$20,000. The post office was in Scott's building, but all the mail was gotten out
after a hard fight. One hotel and several cottages escaped.
