Mr. Harold E. Carroll, age 85, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at his home, Newark, Ohio.
He was born May 25, 1924 in Carbon Hill,(Hocking County) Ohio to the late Elmer and Cora
(Wallace) Carroll.
Mr. Carroll was a member of the Rocky Fork Church of Christ.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and faithfully served his country
in General George Patton's Third Army Tank and Artillery Divisions.
He worked for Pure Oil for a number of years and was later a self-employed oil
distributor. In his retirement years he was employed with Chapman and Lewis Environmental
Services.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Doris L. (Buckingham) Carroll; a daughter,
Helen Shaner of Newark, Ohio; son, James Robert (Sally) Carroll of Newark; two grandsons,
Brent Shaner of Columbus, Ohio and James Brady Carroll of Newark; four great-grandchildren
of Columbus; loving brother, Ray Carroll of McConnelsville, Ohio; and endeared
sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Clark and family; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anne Rene
Carroll; three sisters; six brothers; and son-in-law, Jack Shaner.
Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, at the funeral home, 59
North Fifth Street.
A funeral service for Harold E. Carroll, age 85, of Newark, Ohio will be held at 11:00
a.m. on Friday, April 30, at the Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral &
Cremation Service with Evangelist Corey Campbell officiating.
Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens where military honors will be observed by
the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
