Subject: Carrolls from Blackstep
I'm seeking information on my GG-grandparents, John Duffy ( son of Denis Duffy & Ellen Boyle) and Ellen Carroll ( daughter of Hugh Carroll & Katherine Maguire) respective families. John was born in Skea(gh) in 1807, Ellen in Blackstep 1813. From information I have been able to gather Only Duffy's lived in Skeagh and only Carroll's lived in Blackstep . Since the towns were less than three miles apart there were many marriages between the two families.
The children of Hugh & Katherine Carroll were:
Katherine- I have no information on her.
Ann ( called Nancy) married Neil McCaffrey
Alice - married Terrence Duffy( son of James Duffy & Mary Lynch)
Owen- married Bessie Duffy (daughter of Patrick, son of James & Mary)
Mary - married John Meighan
Ellen -married John Duffy - married 1 March 1838, Knockbride Parish
Hugh- married Mary McKenna.
I believe all the marriages took place in Co. Cavan. probably Knockbride Parish
I know that John & Ellen Duffy, Neil & Nancy McCaffrey, Terrence & Alice Duffy and Owen & Bessie Carroll all emigrated to the United States . My GG-grandparents arriving in Malone , New York early in 1840. Neil & Nancy (Carroll) McCaffrey also settled in Malone. I know that Owen & Bessie were in Malone in 1850, but haven't found them there after that date. Terrence came in 1816, stayed 4 years, returned to Ireland, married Alice Carroll & then emigrated back to the US with his family in 1849, first to Malone, NY, then Lowell, MA, finally settling in Nashua, NH.
Any information concerning any of these individuals would be greatly appreciated.
Joanne Mack, Salem, Oregon

I am also a descendant of Bartholomew Carrol b 1722 married Katherine Zumwalt 1774 Shennandoah Co Va.
Carrel/Carrell/Carrol/Karyl/Karrell/Carl are the various spellings I have found that were used, makes research tough.
Bartholomew Jr was the son of Bart Sr and Katherine.
I would like to share the genealogy I have gathered through the years on the Carrol's andother lines that tie into this family.

I need some conformation on the parents of Seaborn Carroll, born about 1804 in North Carolina and died 1870 in Alabama. He was married to Chasey Ivey. In my records I had that his father was John Carroll (1754-1817) and mother was Rebecca (?) Carroll. But today I came across info that his father was William Carroll and his mother was either Piety Fluellin or Sally Stevenson. Please Help Me! Thanks - Carl
