I have come accross many spelling for many of my geneological family names. I know Charles Carroll is from Cork and And to my knowledge his name was O Carroll but due to some mishaps in his live the families dropped the O from the name. So he was know as Charles Carroll. they are from the family line of the Steinacker family. Off the top of my head I believe this was a 1600 to 1700 family.

Am looking for any info as to what became of Philip Carroll Jr, born 1813 in Jefferson Co. Ohio. His parents were Philip Carroll Sr. & Mary. Philip Sr. died in Dec. 1813 as a prisoner of war. The children were split up. There is a marriage record of a Philip Carroll to Maria Feltenberger in Sept. 1832 in neighboring Harrison Co. Ohio. After that they seem to disappear, never appear in any census or other record. I've wondered if an error could have been made on the marriage record. My ancestor is Phillip C. Olinger who married Mariah (sometimes Mariah Marie) Feltenberger in 1832. It's been suggested his middle name could have been Carroll. Their first children were born in Jefferson Co. Ohio. The Carroll name was used a middle name for several Olinger children & grandchildren.
