Sorry for the delay, it got lost in my email inbox.
My ggrandmother, Bridgid Carroll immigrated to Illinois from County Louth near Dromskin during the famine times. She ended up outside of Kansas City, KS where she engaged in letter writing with her family in County Louth. I have about 15 of thee letters. Have not been able to get a good fix on her siblings but have some info.
I met a third cousin who escorted me around County Louth a few years ago to the cemeteries where Bridgid's parents and some siblings are buried. If you want more, please email me at jbueche(a)san.rr.com. Would like to hear what other details you may have on Carroll family in Louth.
Regards,
Jim

My great-grandfather was Howard Robert Carroll, who married Ercel G (?) Oliver. He was born in 1907, died in 2000.
I'm trying to find *at least* his parents. It's strange, because he was a judge in Michigan, but I can't find any good biographical information except from his career, which doesn't help with my tree. If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it greatly!

Hello, I'm wondering if you have made any progress in find ing information about your Carroll ancestors in Maryland? I am also researching my Carroll ancestors that might have lived in Dorchester Co, MD in the mid 1700's to early 1800's and seem to be coming up emptyhanded.

I am looking for Andrew Jackson Carroll who would be about 1 year old in 1900 with his parents, Lawson Absolam & Martha Marinella(Coleman)Carroll. His parents were in Cherokee County, North Carolina in 1880 and I have found them in the 1910, 1920 in Cherokee County, North Carolina, but I cannot find them in 1900. Does anyone have any information as to where they were in 1900?

Message Board Post:
Am looking for information on
Patrick J. Carroll, b Apr 1845 Ireland
and
Thomas McCormack Heffernan, b. 1846 Tipperary, Ireland.
The information I have is that they married Hurlihy sisters from Boston - Thomas Heffernan married Joanna (Johanna) and Patrick married her sister, name unknown. I have 1880 census records showing Thomas Heffernan married to Johanna circa 1871 in St. Louis, MO. where she died the same year the census was taken. {Actually she was alive when the first 1880 census was taken and listed as dead on the retake.} All looks good except I don't know the sister's name.
Now I find on the 1900 census Patrick Carroll married to a Johanna in 1871. So now I am very confused. I'm fairly sure the two men are the right ones because of their locations/occupations [Patrick a tailor in Boston and Thomas a policeman in St. Louis]. Why would there be 2 Johanna Hurlihy's with the same parents? Also missing is the St. Louis Johanna Heffernan's son John D. Heffernan who was supposed to have been raised by Patrick Carroll back in Boston when his mother died.
All help out of this mess appreciated!
Alice Campbell
