I am trying to find information on the family of Jacob CARRELL of Richland, Richland District, SC. Namely his son Joseph, if he had a daughter Martha CARRELL/CARROLL b. 1815 SC who married William J HUGG, son of Stephen HUGG. I think I read somewhere that Joseph moved to York Co, SC. There is also another Joseph CARROLL b. 1781, in York Co, SC. He is the son of Joseph CARROLL & Martha SWANCEY/SWANSEA.William J HUGG & Martha CARROLL are my 3rd G Grandparents on my mom's father's side. I have the will of Stephen HUGG (William J HUGG"S father) in which he leaves a watch to Jacob CARRELL, husband of his daughter Nancy, Wm J HUGG'S
sister. This Jacob CARRELL would be the son of Jacob CARRELL,Sr & brother to Joseph CARRELL, the one I am trying to find information on. I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Please send the "write up on the Carrell clan" you offered on a few years back.... if you are still online now. Send to luraj(a)triad.rr.com
Thanks for the offer. I'm curious to see what is meant about the Carrells being a "race" rather than a clan.
Lura

Greetings all from Australia,
I am new to this list and I would be most grateful for any information offered in my quest to find something about my Carroll ancestors.
My g grandfather James Carroll, aged 20 years old in 1857 married Annie Anastasia Marsh in Sydney.
On the marriage certificate details are:
he was born in Dublin
he names his parents as JOHN CARROLL and HONORA MORLEY.
Would anyone be able to assist me with the date & place of John & Honora's marriage?
Also any suggestions as to where I maybe able to search for James arrival date into Australia.
I have not been able to find any record of James death in Australia...his daughter (my grandmother) & son were raised in an orphanage........they were there when their mother died in 1892, ages were 14 and 10 respectively.
Any assistance would be most gratefully accepted.
Cheers & again thank you,
Ellen

Hello Jan. I noticed the name Honora Carroll and Kennedy. (Like so many others, we have been told we are relatives of Charles Carroll of Carrollton. The best I can figure is that we may be descendants of Charles' Uncle Michael of Lisheenboy.) At any rate, my GG Grandmother is Honora Carroll, born in Ireland (Tipperary) and her parents are another Charles Carroll and Anne Kennedy. I would love to know if you see any connection. Thanks. John

Need marriage record for JOHN CARROLL and MARY/JOHANNA HARTIGAN ca 1834 in Limerick, Clare or Cork. If one of my fellow genealogists have access to these records and could check for this it would be greatly appreciated. The Irish Family Foundation has records of marriages in Limerick on line but they are 5 Euros each and there are quite a few listings for JOHN CARROLL or MARY/JOHANNA HARTIGAN. No way to tell if they are married to each other. I wouldn't mind paying for the record if I knew it was them. This could get quite expensive otherwise. Thank you for your help. Bunny

There is a gravestone at Antioch Baptist Cemetery, Boston, Thomas County, GA for Calvin Carroll, born August 1800, died July 1878. I do not find any Calvin Carroll in the Georgia Census with a birth year of 1800. Does anyone know who this person was?

I have also read that back when they did the census in pioneer times, there was no term for anyone that wasn't white except for "colored",. This could mean black,Indian,Asian, mixed races "mulatto', whatever, anyone that wasn't caucasian. Until later, then they started using terms like black, Asian,Indian, etc. So, when you see that term, you still can't be positive unless. It just takes a lot of digging. Probably there's a lot of people who would be surprised what mixture of blood is in their veins.
