Message Board Post:
I am a direct descendant of Charles Carroll - not of Carrolton - but of Clonfert Parish, County Galway. We are some of those tricky "Pennsylvania" Carrolls.
My Carroll clan settled into the hard coal region of Pennsylvania following an early immigration during the early famine years, were staunchly Catholic, and as far as I am aware, not remotely connected to either CC of C or Charles Carroll, signer of the Constitution. We are, however, related by marriage to the Devlin, Creary, Stanton, and Gibson lines.
My great great grandfather was Charles Carroll, born in County Galway about 1826. He eventually settled in Port Carbon and Cumbola, Schuylkill County, Pa. where he worked in the mines, raised a family, and eventually opened a tavern.
If anyone is interested in this branch of the Carrolls, which may include James Carroll of Tamaqua who was hung for his alleged involvement in the Molly Maguire saga during the 1860's and 70's here in the coal region, visit me at http://www.freewebs.com/clancarroll for more family details.
Thanks!
Loretta

I have not been able to locate Enoch's father. I have some information that states it is Daniel son of Demse James but cannot prove it.

Just wondering if you've made any progress on Enoch's parents. I've traced my line to his son William Price Carroll, but I always reach a dead end at Enoch.
