Hi, my name is Cathy Edwards and I am looking for the author of this One World Tree...
http://trees.ancestry.com/owt/pedigree.aspx?pid=178759868&st=1
It features a Mary Ann Carroll. I am interested in the Arteaga side of the family. There is a Lucio Arteaga married to a Maria Navarro and I would like to know more about Lucio Arteaga. We are searching for a Lucio Erasto Arteaga born in 1926, who was married to an Ignatius Navarro. He was a guitarist in a band. It is possible that this is the same man. My husband recently found out that this man is his father. If you have any information, please email me at edwardscatherine(a)hotmail.com. Thank you very much.

P.S: I know that one of the Carroll family, William, settled in Wisconsin,
and was a brother of John Carroll the farmer from Polerone. I have much of his
record.

All these names except Alice, Catherine and Agnes are in my husband's family
tree. His family came from the parish of Polerone, Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny.
His father was Philip Carroll, one grandfather, the other, John Daly ;
one great grandfather was James Carroll: one great-great grandfather was
another Philip Carroll.
My husband's father was a Chicago police officer (Philip Carroll) whom they
called "Little Phil", and at the same time there was another Philip Carroll
who was known in the dept. as "Big Phil". i think "Big" Phil" was from
Mooncoin parish, Kilkenny also., who might be of the Carroll family that you are
searching for.
Mooncoin was saturated with Carrolls. One of the most famous was "John
Carroll of Polerone", a farmer. They were all related in one degree or other.
Please keep in touch, as i think your Carroll family is somehow related if
he was from that area of Kilkenny.

I have John Carrol, born about 1830, marrying Johanna Hartigan, born about 1835, marrying in the 1850's, presumably in County Limerick, as these are both Co. Limerick families. They had at least 2 children, Michael, born in County Limerick about 1857 and James, born about 1864 in County Limerick.
Michael Carroll married Bridget Cleary(Clery). Bridget was born June 1859 in Effin RC Parish at Thomastown, Kilmallock PLU in County Limerick. Her Parents were Mark Cleary and Sarah Bennett. Michael Carroll and Bridget Cleary were married at St.Bernard's RC church, 328 West 14th St., New York City on January 24, 1884.At the time of her marriage Bridget was a dressmaker living with her sister, Mary Cleary Finn and her family. Her sister, Honorah Cleary stood up for her.
I would mention here that the grandmother of Bridget Cleary, mother of Mark Cleary, was Catherine Carroll of Co. Limerick. Over the years there were a number of marriages between the Cleary's, Carrolls, Hartigans and numerous other landholding families in this area of County Limerick. How they are all related is pretty confusing. I don't know anything about the Keough's, but it's a common enough name in eastern Limerick & western Tipperary. If the records you arte looking for are in the Diocese of Cashel/Emly which covers parts of Limerick and Tipperary it is difficult, as the Bishop doesn't want the records released. Also, some of the Cleary's and Hartigan's were Church of Ireland, so look there too.

My Grandmother was born Elizabeth Carroll in 1893. Her father was Edward Carroll who at her birth is listed as being a hairdresser. Her mother was Nancy Carroll. They lived at 113 Ribbleton Lane, Preston. They had at least one other daughter - my grandmother called her Rosie in some letters I still have - but I suppose it could be Rose. I also know Rosie had a daughter - I have a photograph of her, but do not know her name.
Elizabeth married my grandfather Alfred Peter Eltringham Charlton in 1916 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne. (When they were married, her father was listed as a boiler maker). They had two sons, Albert and Edward, and lived on farms in the NE of England around Ebchester. They all migrated to Australia in 1924. I would like to find descendants of the Carroll's who will still be in the UK.

My Father's grandmother was a Julia Carroll of Dublin, and I believe the came to America around the time you are noting in your account. I think Patrick might have preceded them and have been Julia's brother, hence the reason my great-grandparents came her around 1869.
Happy to share what I have.
