Good morning Swanmak1:
Glad to see someone else researching County Down. I found a Henry Carrol
married to Mary McKibbon in 1840 at the Second Presbyterian Church in
Killinchy, County Down. Henry and Mary may be my Great Great Grandparents. Do you
have any Carroll male relatives involved in the Carroll Surname Y-DNA
research? If not, can you get them involved. My kit number is 31491. I have
found a few Carrolls in the County Down phone directory that I plan on contacting
regarding my research and requesting their involvement in the Y-NDA research.
Best regards,
Mike Carroll

My Carroll connection is Agnes Carroll born c 1790, married Thomas Wallacec

been James Carroll of Killinchy.
Did you post the Carroll-McKibbon marrige to Ros Davies site? Sometimes you
can attract other interested researchers that way. If you have baptismal
dates, they can also be included.

Kilmood is quite close to Killinchy, so Henry may a member of the Killinchy
Carrolls. The baptismal records date back to 1813, and I believe they are

If the family is Presbyterian, you could also write to the Killyleagh

My great grand father Francis "Frank" Carroll emigrated to New England in
1866. He was born in Liverpool about 1852 but his parents came over from
Ireland possibly from County Down. Henry settled in Gloucester, MA. He had a
relative or relatives that lived in Lowell, MA. He married Sarah Sheehan who
was born and lived in Lowell, MA about 1872 and his only son was named Henry
Carroll. Anyway, since your posting indicated the key words Lowell, Francis,
and Henry I was hoping to find some sort of connection. Are you involved in
the Carroll surname Y-DNA project? If not, will you please participate? When
paper trails end, the Y-DNA helps fills in the blanks. My kit number is

Interesting - since my name is Julia Ann, and my grandmother was a Carroll.
She was born in Fairfax, Vermont, in the 1800's.

What is even funnier is the fact that I was before married Julianna Carroll.
:-) There was a Julianna King I believe that married a Carroll and had a
daughter and named her Julianna. That was somewhere in Maryland--

Looking for the parents and burial of Julia Ann Carroll. Some censuses combine the first two names as Juliann. She was born about 1826 MD and was married 1849 in DC to Bradley Self. Bradley was born about 1813 and died 18 Oct 1870 in MD or DC.

I think Bettye's suggestion is good to put as the first thing in your
response the name, or the name and address, of the person who asked
the question or raised the subject about which your answer is
directed. However, I also think it is good for the answer to go to
the mail list rather than to the personal address of the person who
first wrote.
I sometimes wonder if someone answered that question off the mail
list, or if the person never got help. Writing to the mail list helps
all of us! Also, some people have their SPAM folder set to reject
mail from addresses not in their address list. After contact has been
made on the list and info shared with all, then two people may wish to
continue their discussion off list.
We are on a roll here! Let the chatter continue... until we dig up
the roots of all our Carrolls.
