RJ Ingram,
William Richardson Carroll, is my 2nd greatgrandfather. I am a descendant through he and Rebecca Moudy's son Bloom Caloway Carroll, their 5th child. I have the names of the children, and William's father and mother. Also have a copy of his application for a Civil War pension. He served in the Union Army.
I would be glad to share any of this with you if you still need information.

David,
First let me write a word of caution about posting information about
your children. I know most of the people reading these genealogy
letters have only noble interest in leaving a legacy for the next
generations, but since the letters are archived, they can be searched
quickly by those who may have criminal intent. With full names,
including mother's name, it would be easy for someone to compare other
information which might include birthdates in order to steal an
identity. It is a shame we must learn to be so cautious and
suspicious, isn't it?
I found the following file which seems to be about your John Carroll
by searching at the LDS site http://www.familysearch.org/
It is a file submitted by someone else and therefore may have errors.
Since the file did not give baptismal dates, I'm guessing if they were
members of the LDS, at least the person sending in this file did not
know that.
My interest in looking this up is because the family is from Johnston
County, NC. My ancestors, Alexander Carrel/ Carroll and Lucy
Ryal/Royal, were married in 1783 and lived in the adjoining Duplin
(which became Sampson) County. I have long believed there may be a
link between the Carrolls in Johnston and most of those in Sampson.
So far, I can't prove that. We now have three men descended from
Sampson County Carrolls who match 37/37 markers and another who
matches 36/37 in the CARROLL DNA Project. One other person whose
ancestor was born in SC matches 36/37 with the above men, so we know
he was also related but so far we don't know how. Those four men
shown in orange on the family DNA chart are descended from Sampson
County, and the first line in gray under them is the man whose
ancestor was born in SC. See
http://www.childtalk.com/History/carrollfamilydnavalues.htm
We would love to have a CARROLL male descended from Johnston County
send a sample for DNA testing, so we can determine if these were
indeed related to ours. If you or a CARROLL brother, father, uncle,
cousin, or son would send a sample, it would help not only you but
also many others trying to unravel this very complicated family. If
interested, contact project administrator Kevin Carroll at
kushtiqa(a)hotmail.com
There is more information on the family below at the LDS site. Since
it is presented by different people, it may not match what you have,
but it may lead you in the right direction to find the actual records
you need.
Good luck,
Lura Southard

Hi, I can't help on the Carroll side but would be very keen to know what you have on the Bunbury side. I was born a Bunbury in Cheshire, England and I and a couple of distant cousins are trying to make up as full a Bunbury tree as possible. I don't seem to have this line and would be grateful for any assistance and will of course pass on any information you would like from me.
Hello All,
I'm researching my great-great-grandparents Jason Carroll (b. 1818 d.
1894) and Henrietta "Hettie" McLain (b. 1825 d. 1899), and I've encountered
something that has me scratching my head. Every place I've checked that
actually names Hettie's parents has them named as Solomon Stevenson ( b.
1755 d. 1781) and Anna Nancy Johnson ( The dates I've found for Anna are b.
1744-6 d. 1861, but that would mean she was almost 120) . Hettie shares the
surname of neither parent, and Solomon died 44 years before Hettie was born.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
I'm also looking into one of their sons and daughters-in-law, my
great-grandparents, Andrew Love Carroll and Alice Howell. I'm trying to find
them on the 1900 census. Two of their sons stated on their WWI Draft
Registration Cards that they were born in the 1890's in Grady, Jefferson
Co., OK. And, the 1910 census shows Andy, Alice and their family in Grady.
In 1900, Grady would have been in Indian Territory; I believe it was located
in the Chickasaw Nation. Any help in this area would also be greatly
appreciated.

Here are the notes I have on the family from my Grandmother before she passed away.
Carrolls attended catholic church in Columba's Parish, which may have been an Irish or Scotish parish.
All went to Catholic school there as well. Michael Francis Carroll probably did not finish high school, leaving earlier to
work. She remembered Michael Thomas Carroll, and that he died on Christmas while she was in High School (probably late 1930s).
His wife Mary Gallagher Carroll died within one month of his passing.
She also rememebered a little bit about some of Michael Francis Carroll brothers and sisters.
John was the oldest, and he was a fireman in Philadelphia. He had at least 2 sons named Joseph and Bernard.
** This matches the info I've found in the 1930 census
Another brother was Jim, who never married.
Another brother was Bill, who she remembers being picked on by his brothers.
One sister was named Dorothy, who had a daughter named Doris, and at least one other daughter who was younger. My grandparents
were friendly with Doris for a long time, and she was living in Richmond, VA when they were last in contact.
Another sister Michael Francis Carroll was very fond of, but she could not remember her name, she remembers the sister had the
same bithday as (Edna Rothwell Carroll, 14 Jan 1894), so this could be Marie (Jan 1895 according to 1900 census). This sister
had 2 sons, one of whom died very young.
** No census matches for this sister, since we don't know her married name
Anyone who may have information about any of these people, post a message, or feel free to email me at javatestcase(a)yahoo.com.
Thanks!
Bill
I have some information on Enoch Carroll that I was given when I visited
Kentucky some time ago. It lists John Morgan Carroll as the third child of
James and Amelia Ann Beeler. Born January 18, 1863. Married Emma E. Beck
Dec. 23, 1896. You are correct that his mother died when he was young. She
died March 20, 1865. If you are interested in this information, advise and
I will send it to you. Would still love to find Enoch Carroll's father!
Kathy

I have followed with great interest the discussions on the various
Carroll/Carrell lines. I'm not new to genealogy, however I am new to
searching this line. The information I have was given to me by a distant
cousin who has been researching this line for some time.
The farthest back we are able to go is to a Luke Carroll/Carrell b. 174? in
VA., wife's name was Anne. They had a son, Luke, b. 1772 (in VA per 1850
Meigs Co, TN US Census), married to Elizabeth Murphy, 25 Jan 1792 in Dawson,
County, NC according to their marriage bond and NC Marriage Index. I have a
copy of their marriage bond.
They had 10 children:
Thomas M. b. ca. 1801
John, b. ca. 1803
Nathaniel, b. ca. 1806
Olive, b. 31 May 1807, Washinton, TN
Eliza, b. 1808, TN, married 24 Nov. to Wm. Lockmiller in Rhea Co., TN ( Rhea
Co. TN Marriage Record)
Mary, b. ca. 1810
George, b. ca. 1812
Patsy Ellen, b. ca. 1814
Alfred, b. Jan. 1814 or 1804 in NC
Ann, b. ca. 1816
Luke Carroll/Carrell Sr. is listed in the Historical Register of Virginians
in the Revolution, soldiers, sailors, and marines, 1775-1783
Ed. by John H. Gwathmey
Richmond, VA. 1938
I'd like to find where Luke Carroll/Carrell, Sr. came from and if there were
any other children besides Luke, Jr. and how he ties in to the other
Carroll/Carrell families. I would appreciate any help. Thanks so much in
advance.
Elaine O'Neill
