My great grandparents were Michael Carroll and Margaret Nallin, originally of Honesdale, PA. I have had very limited success tracing this family back in time from these ancestors, but I have info coming forward.

James & Lelia moved their family from Montague Co., TX to Carter Co., OK around Lone Grove about 1899. They lived in Oklahoma City for awhile before moving back down to Ardmore, Carter Co., OK. Lelia died in 1952 and James in 1956 in Ardmore. Some descendents stayed in OK, some went to TX and Flora and Adrien went to southern CA. If you know anything about any of these descendents please contact me at: janwhit67(a)yahoo.com. I especially need info on the boys, their wives and children. I will share my info and pics with you. Thank you so much for your time.

Hi Listers,
Need information pertaining to Francis Carroll, born in Ireland, and worked as an engineer for the Gas Company in New Orleans, LA for about 40 years until his retirement in 1900, and he died in New Orleans in 1912. He was married to a Mary Jane Daly. Seems he was very close to the Daly family in New Orleans.
My father-in-law's name was Francis Carroll Daly, and my wife's full maiden name is, of course, Frances Carroll Daly. We would like to learn something about the Francis (or Frank) Carroll who seems to have had a significant influence on my wife's Daly family in New Orleans.
Thanks.

Joanne, Thank you for responding so quickly. Once I print out this new info I will enter into my records. I had some of the info from Eileen's death certificate but much of it is new. It is very welcome. Well, it would be nice to be in contact with the daughters and yes the photo would be great. Clarence was the youngest of twelve children. His father, Michael Carroll was born in 1838 in Northern Ireland. Michael's father James Carroll ( 1815 ) who was from County Mayo emigrated to America in 1847. I was hoping that maybe there might be some photos and even more detailed family info which Clarence and his family might have kept since he really lived a very long life and would have known many who died in the early part of the 1900's. Well, I guess that's enough meandering. Thanks again for the info and I will look forward to hearing from you again.

Kevin, I do not know where the daughters of Clarence and Kathryn are living, but will see if I can find out for you. My two oldest brothers worked for many years for the Los Angeles County Road department. Clarence Carroll got them the jobs and they were pretty close to him. I just recently ran across a picture of Clarence and Eileen taken in San Francisco around the 1940's. Maybe a wedding picture. I gave it to my brother and neglected to make a copy for myself. I will try and have my brother make a copy for me and if you would like one I'll make one for you.
Eileen Agnes Baust was born January 5, 1899, in So. Omaha, Douglas Co., NE. Her mother was Teresa Frances Mertes and father was Joseph Baust. Teresa (my grandmother) was born May 14, 1878 in So. Joanne, Thanks for the note. His name was Clarence Raphael. He was born in Iowa in 1888. I have both his and Eileen's death certificates from California. It would be great to have as much info as possible so I could put into my family tree maker history info. Also, I don't know if you are aware, he was married in the beginning to Kathryn Bertelson. They had three daughters. The mother Kathryn died in 1940 or 41 from cancer. I was trying to find info on the daughters who may still be living and also to know more about when Clarence married Eileen. I was able to trace that she originally came from Nebraska? Well, anything you can tell me would be great.

My aunt, EILEEN AGNES BAUST, was married to C. R. CARROLL. We knew him as "Pop". I do not have any information regarding Clarence Raphael Carroll, but if you are interested in information regarding Eileen I would be happy to supply what I know. My mother, CHRISTINE FISHER, was a half sister to EILEEN BAUST. There were two brothers, LEO and PETER NICHOLAS BAUST.

I don't recognize any of these names in my family. If you can find an approximate date that the family left NC, we might have more chance to see if we have a connection. Many from the Southeastern part of NC did go south. I haven't seen too many with the name "Hardy" in the Carroll family except my ancestors.

I am looking for any information I can find about Patrick Carroll. All the info that I have was given to me by my father. Patrick Carroll is my ggrandfather. My dad says that he came here alone during the turn of the century and was a big football star back in Kilkenny Ireland. He married my ggrandmother Bridget (not sure of spelling) Hill and my dad says he passed in August of 1942. Any info you may have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Its a longshot, but I have William Carroll and Margaret in NYC at the same time. My GGmother, Mary Carroll was their daughter and born in NYC in April 1871. Although your couple are relatively young in 1880 (33 and 27) is it possible that they could have a nine year old daughter Mary? Can you please forward the 1880 census record for the household or tell me the district/address?
with many thanks,
Liz.

I am searching for a Margaret Carroll as well. My great grandmother was Mary Carroll, and her parents were Henry Carroll and Margaret Whittaker. Henry Carroll and Margaret Whittaker came from Ireland.
I have been told that my Mary Carroll was third generation Irish-American ... but still unable to prove the intermediate generations. I was also told that "the husband of Margaret Whittaker" was enlisted and killed in the US Civil War -- in New York. Additionally, my grandmother could not remember the married name(s) of Margaret Whittaker (her great grandmother), but was certain that she was the Irish immigrant ancestor.
I recently found a NYC census record showing a Margaret Carroll living in 1890 at the same address as my great grandmother Mary (nee Carroll) and her first husband Andrew Pepper. The address is 347 E 114th Street, Manhattan.
If Henry and Margaret had two daughters (I am only able to prove one daughter born April 1871 (my Mary) ... it is possible that these are the same family.
If any of the above information sounds familiar, please get in touch directly (liz(a)kolster.org)
Liz.

I have a marriage record from www.familysearch.org showing
that Mary Carroll married Andrew Pepper in 1887
"Andrew Pepper married Mary Carroll in New York City, Manhattan, on 24 June 1887 (FamilySearch, batchM006770)"
Parents of Mary Carroll (b April 1871, New York, NY)
are indicated to be
William Carroll born Ireland
Margaret Whittaker born Ireland
Parents of Andrew Pepper (b June 1868), New York, NY)
are indicated to be
Samuel Pepper born Ireland
Sarah Maxwele born Ireland
Does anyone have connection to this family? I am trying to get immigration records, marriage records and Irish place of birth for the Pepper, Maxwele, Carroll and Whittaker families.
Liz.
