It came up for me just fine. A nice web site.

Good morning,
I've new to the list and have been monitoring hoping to get a clue to my brick wall; Hugh CARROLL b. ca 1824 in
Dublin Ireland. Married Eliza Jane CORRIGAN b. ca 1830 on 31 July 1848, Dublin. They moved to St. Helens, Lancashire England abt. 1830. Both died and are buried in
St. Helens; Hugh 7 Nov 1888 and Jane 13 Jan 1890.
Found the family on the 1881 England census.
Have seen references to various CARROLL books but hesitant to purchase without knowing wheter they may be listed.
Looking for any suggestions on how and where to proceed
Thanks
Jim Leezer

Hi, Jean.....My full name is Charles Carroll Boyer, III. I have reason to believe that I may be a direct descendant of the Carroll;s. My great-grandfather was a James Boyer, b. circa 1816, in Fairfield Co., Ohio. According to the 1870 Census, James was married to a Meary (Mary?) with no maiden name given. She was born circa 1813, probably from OH. To link the Boyer/Carroll clans, Meary would have to be one of the Carroll, Jr. descendants.. Would you have any insights as to whether she may have been one of the Carroll clan? Please feel free to contact me via E-mail: ccboyer3(a)earthlink.net Thanks!

I found a Henry Carroll born 1866 in SC. Parents were Wilson Rufus Carroll, mother's name Nancy Ann Hester. Father born in SC Mother in NC. There is nothing about Georgia listed. There is no other information about Henry. But some of the brothers and sisters seem to have gone to Texas and married and died there.
The compiler took her info from 1900 census of Walker Co, TX and 1880 San Jacinto co. Texas. Also Civil War records. If you want the compiler's name and address, please e-mail me privately at goldfinch(a)atlantic.net as I do not want to post her address on here. Please put Carroll in the subject line. Carolyn

William E. Carroll of Aleen County Indiana was killed March 26, 1944, in the South Pacific during World War II. He is buried in the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. We are seeking information regarding his military and civilian life.
I am a retired Hoosier from Madison County residing in the Philippines with my Filipino wife. We are seeking family and military information about servicemen from your county killed in the South Pacific during World War II. There are 17,206 Americans buried here and thousands more that are missing or buried at sea and are honored on the “Tablets of the Missing”. Please visit our website to see the beautiful memorial located in Manila, Philippines.
http://fizkid.tripod.com/
My wife and I visited the cemetery as visitors and left with a mission in our heart. We have been taking photographs of the graves of the Indiana servicemen buried here and have been uniting them (at no charge) with their family members in Indiana and across the United States. To receive the photo of your family member, neighbor or friend all you need is a working email address. We do not send them to regular mailing addresses due to the costs. Please help us find the families of the men that might still be living. Our project is only successful because of teamwork and your contributions are noted on our website. If you wish to help us we will be pleased to add your name to our ACKNOWLEDGMENT page on the website. The obituaries usually did not appear till to three months after the death date.
If you are not a genealogist you can help by just picking up the telephone directory and find someone with the same last name and give them a call. It has worked many times for us.

Carolyn,
Thank you for sharing the information from Elsie Bailey's book, "Tracing the Steps of the Carroll Clan". Sometimes I wonder just
how many books have been written about this Carroll family - and all if them seem to differ in some way??
I like this theory, because it fits into the picture the family lore that many of us have heard saying we were related to CC of
Carrollton. However, I wonder what documentation she used to arrive at these conclusions. I've seen several accounts that indicate
that Charles Carroll of Annapolis who married Elizabeth Brooke had only one child - Charles Carroll of Carrollton. His father,
Charles Carroll of Litterluna or Charles Carroll the Immigrant, was not married to a lady named Elizabeth. His two wives were Martha
Underwood and Mary Darnall.
I have not personally researched this, but one online site maintained by Scott and Lois Helmers that lists this family can be found
at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/4688/carroll.html
Just thought I'd share another idea for comparison.
Lura

Subject: [CARROLL] Georgia CARROLLs
In researching my line of CARROLL's (William out of NC) came across the following info in the geneology section of library: A
book "Tracing The Steps of the Carroll Clan" by Elsie Bailey of Georgia she purports that most Carrolls are direct descendents of
Ely O'Carroll of Ireland; that Charles and Daniel came to Maryland in Oct 1688. Three of Charles and Elizabeth's sons left Catholic
Church, were disinherited/excommnicated. She states they moved in to VA and reared large families: John, Benjamin, Edward, Peter,
James, Clement, William. In 1700's moved into Orange CO, Hillsborough, NC. In the book was copy of a letter written in 1908.
Excerpt: "My Dad told us this story......His father was Thomas Carroll. .....they left Maryland, he and a brother named James.
They came through Virginia to North Carolina, then to Georgia. ......This was Framklin County, Georgia, later this land was in
Habersham. Old Uncle James died there.......Grandpa moved ondown to the so!
uth. He died in 1840 in Fayette County. He hadseveral children. signed - Aunt Minnie......Hope this will give someone some

I have no info on the names you mentioned in your query but I had a gggrandmother named Ann Elizaabeth Carroll in Ouachita Co. Arkansas. She was born in 1836 in SC. I don't know when they came to Arkansas nor where they may have stopped on the way. There was also a Henry Carroll living not too far away from her also. However, I know nothing about him except he was in the Civil WAr. He was probably kin to her.
She married a Swartz and had one son by him. She may have been married before that. After Swartz died she married a William W. Camp from Louisiana. They are on the 1880 census for Ouachita Co. Ark. She died in 1892 and is buried there. Do any of these names connect? Carolyn

Sorry, I am not even sure she was in Georgia. When she left SC I am assuming she came the usual route, through Georgia, Ala. and Mississippi to Louisiana and Arkansas. But since I don't know who her parents were I don't know where they may have stopped. Iwill look through my Carroll info for you if you would like me to. Give me names and time frame. Carolyn

Where did you find the information that Elizabeth was a Smith? William was married to a smith but I have never been able to find Elizabeth's maiden name, only her name by her first husband. She married George W.in 1846 at Woolam, Mo. According to Stephen Glandon's obit. He, his sister and parents came to Missouri from Tn. when the children were small. I do not know what happened to Thomas the father. He evidently died shortly after coming to Missouri

According to the pension that Elizabeth filed for she was a widow when she married George W. Carroll. She had been married to Thomas Glandon and she had two children by him. Namely Stephen and Nancy Ann. These two children listed under George W. in the census are his step-children.
