Looking for information on a Lucy Ada Carroll, who was born in Bristol, but ended up in Weston-Super-Mare married to a Alfred Gadd.
Her Mother was also called Lucy, and I think her Maiden name was Butler, but not 100% on that one.
Would be grateful of any assistance.
Thanks, Dave.

Just now saw your message. I don't think there's a connection. Since posting
my message have found that Annie(b. 6/17/1862 in Suffolk County) was the
daughter of Daniel Carroll and Annie Thomas. Siblings were William (died young) and
Margaret (b abt. 1854 or 1856).

Thank you for the advise. If I can tie Michael to Virginia definitively, I'll go down that route... So far I just have a matching month/yr, which isn't enough to prove anything with a common name like Michael Carroll.

I noticed your posting about Michael Carroll. If you could find an obituary or other evidence which confirms that he came from Virginia, County Cavan then I would encourage you to contact the Cavan Research Center http://www.irish-roots.net/Cavan.htm . They are very helpful. They do charge a fee but they have access to all of the records in that county. The family of Bishop John Patrick Carroll of Dubuque and Helena, Montana originated from Virginia, County Cavan. There are quite a few source documents in that township remaining back to the 1820 time frame. Good luck!!

I am currently researching my Carroll family line. The earliest names I have are Captain John Carroll married to Mary Lucretia Richardson, July 13, 1815 in Baltimore City. The only child I know of that they had was John Richardson 1819-1889) Carroll who married Sarah Rebecca Vinton (1823-1892 or3). John and Sarah had 10 children, many of whom lived on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. John and Sarah are my great-great grandparents.
Jim,
I think your letter shows why the DNA projects are going to be such a valuable resource in
genealogy - to help sort. I know you are involved in some Y-DNA and some MtDNA projects in MA, but
as you know the CARROLL project which has been started is to test the male only line using Y-DNA.
That is the least expensive way to test, but is limited to only testing the father to son to g-son
to g-g-son, etc. I hope more CARROLL (by any spelling) men will volunteer to do a cheek scraping,
so there will be more results with which to compare.
More information can be obtained at the following sites:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/carroll/http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=F25174&special=True
Information for joining the CARROLL-DNA-L mail list is at
http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/other/DNA/CARROLL-DNA.html
I am not the administrator of the project, just an interested Carroll trying to help to get the
message out to others, so we can ALL find answers.

The point no one is saying is "so what"?
I have all the books and a database of 80,000 + names in chelsea revere and
winthrop. I research denning dever cogan carroll mchugh malone. So you find a
denning. lets say
12 nov 1853 In search of Patrick DENNING from Pullboy St.,Navan [Co.Meath]
when last heard from [3 yrs ago] was in Plattsburg ,N.Y. Any information will be
thankfully recieved by by his cousin Patrick DENNING ,Oswego,N.Y.-
and you are looking for a patrick "WOW I FOUND MY HIT" even the new poster on
George W. IN N.Y. today could get excited about this . but what does it say?
that the patrick who was in meath is thought to have been in Plattsburg 3 yrs
ago. Which patrick? I have 31 just in my database?
The best story to get this point across is a women wrote the clerk of
chelsea . asking for the birth certificate for James Denning born between 1878
and 1883.The clerk wrote back which one we have seven of them.I have 3000 mass
dennings at least 2200 are from chelsea. And you find a Patrick or a James who
is being looked for by his brother john and sisters margaret catherine and
mary.
Good luck every pat or james has a brother john and sisters margaret
catherine and mary.
just be careful before you jump on something that looks like your answer to a
prayer
Btw i searched denning and didnt get the hits i knew were there . the search
engine missed them

I'm looking for more information about this family of Carrolls. We are decended from Michael Francis Carroll, but I have no information about his sibling, and little about the parents.
Descendants of Michael Thomas Carroll

1-Michael Thomas Carroll b. 27 Mar 1865, Ireland
+Mary Gallagher b. Feb 1866, Pennsylvania, m. 1889
|--2-Michael Francis Carroll b. Nov 1893, Philadelphia, PA, d. Jun 1984, IL
| +Edna Rothwell b. Jan 1894, Philadelphia, PA, d. Jan 1981, IL, m. Sept 4, 1920
|--2-John T Carroll b. 7 Mar 1891, Pennsylvania, d. May 1975, Anglesea, NJ
|--2-Agnes Carroll b. Jun 1892, Pennsylvania
|--2-Marie Carroll b. Jan 1895, Pennsylvania
|--2-Willie ? Carroll b. Mar 1896, Pennsylvania
|--2-Della Carroll b. Dec 1898, Pennsylvania
I also found this record that may match Michael Thomas Carroll back to his parents in Ireland. His birth month and year match, but with so common a name, that's not enough matches to give certainty.

I have a John Carroll born & baptized January 29, 1854 at St. Malachy Church, Phila., PA Parents: Nicholas and Catherine McKenna. Sponsors: John Carroll and Margaret Cammell. Ceremony by Rev. P. R. O' Brien. I haven't come across John's death record yet, but will look. I do have another John Carroll age 9 yrs., interred on 8/20/1862 at Cathedral Cemetery, Phila., PA. This may be the same person, I've yet to determine if it is or isn't. Nicholas & Catherine are my great-great-grandparents. The address you mentioned is new to me, I will see if I can find out where my Carrolls are in 1850 and 1860. Pat Bennett (patricia_bennett(a)ntm.org)

I have an ancestor named Absolom Carroll. My g-g-g-g grandfather was John Carroll, born in Colleton, S. C. between 1770-1780. He died in Adams County, Mississippi in 1803. His father was Absolom Carroll and we know very little about him. John had a brother named Moses. I have seen more than one Absolom Carroll in my research. Hello,
Does anyone have the same CARROLL family as myself?
My great-grandfather was John, husband of Jennie McEntee/
McIntee.I don't have any dates for them, and only
know that John died before 1919, and Jennie, died
after 1919.
When their son (my grandfather), John was born in
1887, the family lived at 1939, Mountain St.
John married Mary Agnes Hansen.
My grandfather was in the U.S. Navy and died in
1962.
My grandparents had two children and count 7 grand-
children and numerous great-grandchildren.
I would be happy to hear from anyone that may connect
to my family.
Sincerely,
Barbara Joly
