My primary search on the Carrolls has been one Nancy Ann Carroll Clemmons born in the 1790's at Fairfax, VA. We have been searching for information on her parentage for a very long time now without much luck.
Therefore, I am seeking info on some Carrolls in this area that may or may not be connected. Any information on a Demsie Carroll, Joseph Carroll or John Carroll would be appreciatted. The range years for these men would be the mid 1700's to the early 1800's.

I hope someone here will recognize any of this information and be able to help. I will list the information and see what happens...
Virginia (we believe her given name was Regina)Piechocki was my grandmother. She was born in South Bend, Indiana on January 16,1916. Her parents names we believe are John & Mary (Wroblewski)Piechocki. She married Clarence Anderson (or Andersen) in St Joseph County, Indiana on July 24, 1937. She had one son with Clarence, Ronald C. Anderson, born we think in 1938. Then on July 29,1938, we found a marriage license that states she married James W Carroll and had 3 or 4 children with him. Their names were, Robert James, Beverly, Wayne, and between beverly and Wayne it's been said she had a son named David with him, but the child died as an infant. Then as far as we know, she married Clarence Oscar Olson in 1946, and had 2 children with him. Their names are, Sandra and Gordon. I have talked to some of my aunts and uncles on this, but none of them remembers much about Clarence Anderson or James W Carroll. I know they lived in Indiana, and at one time Michigan, and in North Dakota.!
No one seems to know where Clarence Anderson, or James W Carroll went. Can anyone help?

Looking for a Samuel Patrick Carroll born October 8, 1866 in New York
<according to the 1900 census for Oshkosh, Winnebago Co., WI.> and died
November 11, 1940, we believe. He was married to a woman we believe to be
Laura Graef Zimmer born c1885 and died Jan 26, 1963 in Gary, Lake Co., IN.
Known issue was Minerva C., Perry, and Lanore Christine. I would like more
info on Perry and Minerva; location of death of Samuel, more info on Laura
and, of course info on the parents of Samuel and Laura.
I have been told that Samuel might have been the Chief Engineer on the
building of the Route 51 in the Centralia, Illinois area, but the highway
department could not find any reference in their archives.
Anyone know this family? Thanks for any help.

This came in during the holidays - so didn't have a chance to
respond......but wanted to check out the South GA CARROLLs.
I have line which included a marriage between a CARROLL from Duplin/Sampson
Cos, NC & LAMB.
This was MARGARET (CARROLL) ca 1799 NC - bef 1860 GA. She was dau of JOHN
CARROLL, 1770 NC - 1826 NC & his 1st wife, ELIZABETH (HOLLINGSWORTH), ca 1775 NC
- aft son James b in ca 1801.
MARGARET (CARROLL) mar as 2nd wife to WILLIAM LAMB, 1783- 1862 Berrien Co,
GA. This couple moved to South GA, into area that was first Lowndes Co, GA -
later made 1856 into Berrien Co, GA. The info I have on these are that her bro,
JAMES CARROLL 1801 - ? mar ELIZABETH (CARROLL, dau of THOMAS CARROLL) came down
into GA w/his sister, Margaret (Carroll) Lamb & husb Wm Lamb. Others who came
down into GA along w/them are:
Margaret (C.) Lamb's half brother, JESSE CARROLL 1803 NC - ?, son of father
JOHN CARROLL & 2nd wife, ANN "NANCY" (HOLLINGS-WORTH) - who was the sister of
1st wife, ELIZABETH (H.) CARROLL.
What are the names & dates of your South GA CARROLLs, LFCCOINS2006? I might
have some info if yours could be from any of these.....
Regards,
Sarah Howell Studstill

The 1870 U.S. Census lists William Carroll, 62, his wife Ann, 53, and their two grown sons Henry, 32, and William, 24. The parents were born in Ireland and the sons in New York. They are living at 35 Mott Street. (New York, New York, Ward 6 District 11 (2nd Enum), Page 29.)
35 Mott Street was in Five Points, as described by Tyler Anbinder in his boook "Five Points : the 19th century New York City neighborhood that invented tap dance, stole elections, and became the world's most notorious slum". Number 35 appears to have been just a few doors up from the Transfiguration R.C. Church, and across the street from where one of the 6th Ward politicos chose to live, around 1870, according to Anbinder.
The New York City Directory, 1869 database at Ancestry.com contains an entry for a William Carroll living at 39 Mott Street. It says he has fruit stands at 232 & 367 W. Washington. This seems to be in the business district west of Five Points.
So William Carroll the father seems to have done fairly well. He was born in Ireland about 1808, and came to New York some time prior to 1834 when his son Robert was born there. He had at least 4 sons. (1850 U.S.Census, New York, New York, Ward 6, page 252.)
By 1880, his son Henry, a teacher, seems to have left Five Points, moving to 1407 2nd Ave. after his marriage. (1880 Census, New York, New York, District 615, page 15).
An interesting family. I don't know if I'm related. Does anyone else know if they are?
