George Carroll was born in Ireland approx 1820 to 1840.
He is my great grandfather.
He had approximately 9 children and brought them to Canada sometime after 1860 and may have settled in Toronto, Ontario.
My grandfather is one of George's sons, and his name is Joseph Carroll.
Joseph met Martha Meldrum (or Meldrew) and married her in Toronto on Aug 23, 1887. Joseph was born in Newry Ireland, County of Armaugh on Apr 15, 1860 and he died Sept 24, 1930 and is buried in St Johns Norway Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Joseph and Martha had 3 children: Joseph John Carroll (1891-1970), James Henry Carroll (1889-1959), and Emily Jane Carroll (1895-1952). All 3 children are buried in St Johns Norway Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario.
All these Carrolls were Orangemen.
Please contact me if you think you have information on this George Carroll from County Armaugh, Ireland. thanks !

Patrick married Ellen Donovan in about 1845. Are there any Carroll descendants out there who might have been at the wedding? I know they had a bunch of kids, John, Daniel, William, Henry, Charles, Elizabeth, Mary and Ella. The names Hallahan and Clark are also noted. Love to hear from someone. Jim Donovan

That is my direct line. I would love to have a complete copy of the will.
William is also my farthest person back on that line, so if there is any
information on his origins or family, I would love to have that also.
There is some speculation that he was born in Bethleham, PA. This couple
moved from Frederick, Co. MD to the Smith-Lynville Creek of Rockingham
County [then Augusta County].
The wife Jane has been speculated to have several last names. The most
popular choice is Jane George from Aberdeen Scotland.
There was a Jane George who married Enos Huffman and did not re-marry after
his death. Whether there are two Jane George's or whether this Jane has
another last name is unknown to me.
Mary wed Elder John Alderson in 1759.
With no specifics, I have Joseph wed to "Mary"
Katherine married William Morris
Jane married Adam Jackman
I didn't previously know there was a George Carroll.

I'm wondering if the following person has some connection to James Tillman Carroll. The dates and locations seem to fit.
What I have is an obituary of one of my ancesters, named Oliver Penny Waite who was born in Fayetteville, Fayette Co., VA in 1842, the fourth son of Oliver and Mary CARROLL Waite.
He was a doctor and died in 1934 at 92 years of age in Rochester, IN.
Oliver's father died in 1850 and his mother, "lonely and homesick for relatives and friends in old Virginia, sold her home and with her six small children returned to her native state (of Virginia) where they remained several years. The mother and oldest son conducted a general store. The other boys worked for their uncles, Dr. James Waite and Dr. Anderson Waite.... When civil war was declared, being northern sympathizers the family again returned to Lewisburg (IN). Land was bought, a clearing made and another home was established."
This branch of Waites are found for a time in various censuses beginning in 1830 in both Calhoun county and Greenbrier County, WV. They are also mentioned in Hardesty's History of Calhoun County--
Does any of this ring any bells? I am especially curious about Oliver's middle name of PENNY--rather unusual and this name doesn't show up anywhere in any Waite records that I have found.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer. Ginger Jamerson

I am looking for some Carrolls that lived in Arizona in Yavapai county in the 1920's also. The name is May and she married a Clay Davis. They had a son named Francis Elliott born in 1920. Clay died at 27 in 1922 and May died in 1928 and I don't know where their son went. May's parents were Robert Carroll and Margaret (Vasquez) Carroll. If any of this is a connection, Please contact me at cakeck(a)cox-internet.com.
Thanks,
Connie
