I have a John Henry Carroll listed on my "Carroll Lineage" but I have no dates or places of birth, etc. He is listed as the 13th child; their parents being Stephen and Parizade (Dekle) Carroll. My Grandmother was Julia Etta Carroll born in Logansport, Louisiana Feb. 14, 1893 to Daniel Galveston and Georgia Ann (Patrick)Carroll. Daniel G was John Henry's brother. His other siblings were: Simeon W., Mary F., James C., Timothy, Martha Ann, Stephen Thomas, George Marion, Elizabeth S., Curtis Victor, Julia S. and William Carroll. Do any of these names sound familiar? Maybe there ia a connection. Please reply. Thanks, Linda

Would your William Carroll be the son of Stephen and Parizade (Dekle) Carroll? I have no dates but the dates you have listed are comparable to what I think would be correct. William Carroll's siblings were as follows: Simeon W., Mary F., James Caswell, Timothy, Mary Ann Bethay, Stephen Thomas, Daniel Galveston, George Marion, Elizabeth S., Curtis Victor, Julia S. and John Henry. Stephen Carroll's Father was Joseph Carroll and he was married to Edith "Eady" Hollingsworth. This isn't much information but if it helps please reply. Thanks, Linda

Thanks to both Cathy and Lura for their responses to my quiry. Unfortunately, we appear to be researching different Carroll families. The Lewis in my family was already in Indiana in 1880 and was only 13 years old at that time. As far as I know the family was never in Sampson County. My research is only back to 1870 in Wayne County, NC. Sometime between 1870 and 1880 they moved to Indiana. Since my original posting, I have found out that another son, my grandfather, Nathan Carroll was also on the Indiana census in 1880, married to a woman named Emma. No children listed at that time. By 1889 he had moved to Springfield Ohio where he married Alice Seymour on 25 Dec. His sister, Susie also moved to Springfield, Ohio and they both died there. I have no more information on the mother Thenia or the son, Lewis and assume they remained in Indiana. That is what I am trying to find out.

Hello:
I am trying to find anyone who has information on the Carroll family of Macon Co., and Jackson Co., NC. I am looking for information on Joseph Carroll. He was born about 1834 in Macon Co., and died unknown. He married Arie Lusk March 23, 1873 in Jackson Co., NC. Arie was born between 1825 and 1845. I have no other info. on her. Joseph Carroll's father was Solomon Carroll. He was born 1802/03 in Lincoln Co.
NC. He died after 1850, either from a gold mining accident, or someone killed him for his gold. Either way he left a wife and children behind. Solomon Carroll married Mary Polly Statton. She was born about 1832 in Haywood Co., NC. If anyone has
anything on this family that they would like to share with me, It would be appreciated.
My e-mail address is littlecousin(a)peoplepc.com.
Thank you,
Carolyn Silver Sutton

I have a Catherine Theresa Carroll born ca. 1848 to Peter and Ann Carroll. The family - Catherine apparently had brothers - moved from Ohio to Debuque Co. Iowa about 1858. Peter and/or Ann may have been from Cork Co. Ireland. Catherine later married George J. Freeman. Does any of this jive with your information?
