Am researching my Connecticut relatives and am aware of an aunt who married and moved to El Dorado Arkansas with her new husband, John, who was originally from Arkansas. All of the family thought that there was only one child, a son named John; however after finally getting around to looking them up in the 1930 census, I have discovered that there also were two daughters at that time, around the ages of two years and one and a half years. I also learned that John was an attorney. I would like to learn more about this part of my family and would be most grateful if anyone has any information regarding this family and any living relatives. John was age 41 in 1930 and Ellen was 35. She listed her birthplace as Connecticut ( correct ) but indicated that her father was from New Jersey(partly true...he had moved from New Jersey to Connecticut, but he was born in Ireland.
It would be great to make a connection on this branch.

My Carrolls are from Wolfe Co. KY. My grandfather John Samuel Carroll was the son of Dr. Jonathan Richmond Carroll and Jane Smith Carroll. Dr. Carroll was son of John F. Carroll and Hester Elkins Carroll (Owsley Co.). He was the son of Nolan Carroll (Harlan Co., Owsley Co.). Hope this helps. I believe your grandfather Robert (or his father) was the brother of Jonathan R. Carroll. Their father died and their mother remarried a Collins. They are in the 1880 Census. Hope this helps.

Sorry, but I don't think my line will help you any. I have Bell Carroll being born in 1888 in Rhea Co., TN., but no other info. The info I have on Leora Carroll is that she was born in 1877 in either Rhea or Smith Co., TN and dead as a child. I show the father of both as being Christopher Columbus Carroll, b. 5 May 1847 in either TN or GA, d. 17 Mar 1924 in Lamesa, Dawson, TX. That is as far back as I can trace that line.

I have a family plot in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside (Flushing), Queens Co, NY. It's primarily Harts and Flanagans, but there are two infant Carrolls, so I think a Hart daughter may have married a Carroll. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Hello:
I just signed up on this "Carroll" genealogical list and hope I
can get some good advice and/or information. I was told by Cal Phillips
(hope I got his name correct), that my posting a message on this list might
get to others who might know where I can turn, etc. and gain more
information, so here goes...
I have been doing some genealogical research and finally (after many many
years) located some documentation from the US National Archives - Old
Military Records Dept., on my grandfather (James Joseph Carroll), and found
out that he was born in the town of Clogher, county of Tyrone, on November
3, 1863. Can you help point me in the right direction as to how and/or who
in your organization or another more appropriate organization I might be
able to contact to obtain some more family history such as birth, census,
migration data, etc. records?????
My grandfather left Ireland and entered the USA but I don't know
when, or why, yet. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on December 17, 1887
at age 24. Don't know anything before that time and would like to try and
fill in from the Ireland side as much as is possible. Maybe I still have
some relatives in Ireland that I did not know existed????
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
in advance and best regards.
Bill Carroll
Colorado Springs, Colorado USA
p.s. My grandfather allegedly met his wife (Delia Carey from Cork) while
assigned to the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City. Do not know when they
were married but am working on that end with records people here in the US.

I am also researching the Carroll name. I have a great-great grandfather named Andrew, but know nothing about him other than his name. He had a daughter named AGGIE JANE that married HENRY WILLIAMS in 1883 in New Madrid county, Missouri. Aggie, is my greatgrandma, her dates are March 1866-October 1926.
If anyone has info, PLEASE let me hear from you.
Thanks,
Kay Holmes
