UK Ministry of Defence - Obtaining Records
If you are interested in locating service records for
military personnel in the UK, the Ministry of Defence's Web
site at http://www.mod.uk/index.php3?page=8 is the place to
start. Here, halfway down the page, are links to separate
Web pages for obtaining service records for the Royal Navy,
Royal Marines, Army, and RAF branches of the military. At
each page you will find contact information for obtaining
service records, pension information, and medals. In
addition, a select bibliography is included for each group
that provides you with additional written resources to help
in your inquiries.

Eric,
I didn't understand your question! I assume you wondered why David shared an obituary with the list.
I believe that he did it out of the kindness of his heart just in case that information was needed
by someone on the mail list.

Hi,
Charles Carroll did not sign the Constitution, but the Declaration of
Independence. His wife's cousin, Daniel Carroll (of another Carroll
family), signed the Constitution.
I do not show that your Charles P. Carroll is part of Charles Carroll (the
Signer's) family. Unfortunately most Carroll families in the United States
have it as family legend that they are related to CC of C.
Good luck,
Linda Carroll Bifulco

Hello Listmembers!
I would like to know more about my CARROLL ancestors! Here is what I know
so far....
My maternal grandmother, Sarah Ada Celina Lou Flora CARROLL, b. 8 Apr 1892,
Gibson Co, TN, m. Artee Varden DUFF (b. 9 Apr 1887, Perry Co, TN) on 24 Dec
1907, in Perry Co, TN. They are both buried in Leeper Cemetery in
Lobelville, Perry Co, TN. She d. 13 Sep 1968 and he died 4 Jun 1964.
The story I have been told is that her mother named her after all of her
sisters who were arguing over who the baby girl would be named after. She
was called Ada all her life, and us grandkids called her "Mama Duff".
Ada's parents....
Father - John C. CARROLL, b. 1 Apr 1862, d. 6 Aug 1910, Perry Co, TN.
mar. on ??? to ...
Mother - Francis E. ???, b. 24 May 1859, d. 1 Dec 1928, Perry Co, TN.
Both are buried in Curry Cemetery in or near Lobelville, Perry Co, TN.
I do not know the names of either of their parents. Do you recognize them?
Ada had seven siblings.... Edward D., b. Jul 1882; Elva, b. Oct 1885;
Nicholas, b. Mar 1888; Addie, b. Nov 1890; Ben, b. abt 1890; James Quintin,
b. 1894; and Ollie O., b. 18 Dec 1899.
I also know she had many cousins who also lived in Tennessee. I have
pictures of some of them during WWII, and a very old picture of Ben CARROLL.
My aunt said she thought Ben had died in young adulthood.
Please let me know if you have any other info on my CARROLL family!

I just found out that a company called One Great Family billed me-debited my checking account without authorization in the amount of $74.95USD One Great Family address I found online. It is a Genealogical company however, I have never signed up with them for anything, no programs nor any membership or subscriptions. However they managed to get my credit card number and have charged me $74.95 I do not use this site for my genealogical research and in fact never knew of them until today when I saw the charge. I have just reported this fraud to the Internet Fraud Complaint Center a program by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/ondex.asp and wanted to forewarn everyone to be careful of genealogy sites, some companies just are not as honest as they would like for you to believe.
Keep Safe!

Mary Estelle Carroll was born in New York in 1884. She was the daughter of James Carroll and Ester Gallagher. These Carrolls came from County Monahan of Ireland during the mid-19th century.
James and Ester also had: Leonard, Florence "Flory," and Honore "Noni."
Both Mary and Noni married Elliott brothers in 1900.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
