Elaine,
I'm taking the liberty of usuing your first name since we are, I'm convinced, related. We merely need to determine the degree of consanguinity.
Patrick Carroll, aka Paddy the Panther, is my Gr-Grandfather. He was baptised 4 March, 1862 in Kilrush, Ireland, where the River Shannon empties into the Atlantic. He emigrated to JCNJ in 1883, reportedly because he and his Gorman and O'Donnell cousins were engaged in some anti-British undertakings. He died in a boating accident on the Hudson River near Essex Street (he either crewed or captained a tugboat in NY Harbor) on 4 November, 1893. He and his wife and three of their five children are buried in the family plot in Holy Name Cemetery, formerly Holy Cross Cemetery.
He married Mary Lynch sometime between 1883 and 1887 in NY or NJ. Mary was born approx. February, 1865, perhaps in the Kilrush area of Ireland also. She emigrated to JCNJ in 1882 and died in JCNJ in January 1901 Only two of their five children survived to adulthood. My Grandmother, Margaret Carroll, was born about 28 January, 1893, and her older sister, Catherine Carroll, was born 13 October, 1887. One of the deceased siblings was named Patrick, born March, 1894 and dying in December of that same year.
As you can see, I'm short on details on Mary Lynch, and we need to iron out some date discrepancies, but I'm thrilled to get in contact with you. I'm in the midst of a large work project right now and so can't give your message the attention it deserves, but if you'll send me your Email address I promise to send a more detailed reply later this week or next. My Email address is: hollism(a)earthlink.net
Regards,
"Cousin" Mike

I am researching the Lynch family . My mother was a Lynch and she was born and died in Jersey City, NJ. She had Carroll cousins. In my records I have Mary Lynch maried to Patrick Carroll. Patrick was born in Ireland but I do not know where and died November 10, 1916 in Jersey City. They had two children in the information I have. Margaret Carroll born January 24, 1893 and Patrick Joseph Carroll Born March 24, 1894.Margaret Carroll was baptized in St. Michael's Church, JCNJ on February 5, 1893. Her godparents were Sarah Mc Donald & Thomas Gorman. Patrick Joseph was baptized in St. Michael's on April 1, 1894 - godparents Harry & Mary Noble. I found this in St. Michael's records when I was looking for someone else and I copied it to my records because I knew the name Gorman was connected to my mother's family. According to the 1880 census John F. Lynch and his wife Margaret (Carroll by the way) lived at 426 2nd St. JCNJ. One of their children was Mary A,11 years old. !
Living in the house were Patrick Carrol 26 boarder, Mary A. Quinn 24 sis in law, Thomas Gorman 24 boarder, Michael Walsh 19 boarder, and Nicholas Farrell 23 boarader. I am not sure if this Patrick & Mary are the same but the fact that Patrick Carroll and Thomas were both boarders in the house I feel I am on the right track. Mary would have been 24 in 1893 when Margaaret was born and Patrick Carroll would have been about 39.If this ties in with anything that you have I would love to hear from you. My Lynch's date backto 1849 with Christopher and his family. Christopher's father's name was Philip but I have no information on Philip. I do not know where they came from in Ireland but I would love to find out. My mother and all of her siblings are dead. There were 13 ofthem 11 lived to adulthood. I knew all of them and their children. As far as my mother's aunt's, uncle's, cousins, etc, some I am sure of and some I am a little vague on. My mother loved to remenice but whe!
n I was young I did not have the interest I have now.Her father was John Joseph Lynch and he also came from a large family.

Looking for the family of Russell Carrol b 1793 Westminster, Windham, VT m. Phoebe Chaffee c 1815. Russell lived 1830 in Newark Twp, Caledonia, VT and in 1850 resided in Lynn, Essex, MA.
My ancestor was John Carroll who married Rebecca HUSKEY in Granville County
NC in 1781. I think he came from Fairfax VA. His father was William CARROLL.
John and Rebecca had two children at the time of his will in 1814. They were
Elizabeth MOORE and Polly HARRIS. Elizabeth married Charles MOORE of
Granville County NC in 1812. Not sure who Polly married but looking at the
old tax rolls, I think it may have been John HARRIS. I have nothing more on
Polly. Charles and Elizabeth had the following children: Nathaniel (could
be adopted or from a prior marriage because his age as given on the census
records would make him born about 1807), Fanny Roberson, Lemuel, William
Rial and Lucretia.
Would appreciate any information on any of these families. Thanks.

Hi - this is my line - John Wesley Carroll, Sr, married to Elizabeth Redwine in 1811 in Georgia - I have the Redwine's way back but only John Wesley Carroll, Sr.'s father as John Elbert Carroll b. 1760 in Elebert County, Georgia, and died in 1820 and married to Mary (?) - I have John Wesley Carroll and a sister also, Mary Carroll - this is the level I get hesitant on so I'm not sure of the information on the Carroll's - like you I have most of it forward - if you're missing anything let me know and I can send it to you - later - Pam (Carroll) Stephens
I am tilting at windmills, trying to find my Carrolls. They disappeared from
Co. Cork in the late 1880's. The names Veronica, Winifred, Anthony, Denis,
and Edmond were used. I keep hoping to find one other person researching the
same family.

Larry,
A good account of all the CARROLLs, by any spelling, in Virginia can be found in the following book:
"Virginia Carrolls and Their Neighbors: 1618-1800s"
by Elizabeth Carroll Foster
"Chapters include a brief history of Ireland, a sketch of the colony of Virginia into statehood (1585-1800), some land patents and grants. Also the author provides a list of Virginia Carrolls having recorded wills or inventories, some marriages without dates and locations, Revolutionary War Pension applicants, soldiers in the Civil War, the war with Spain and the Philippine insurrection, and those found on Virginia records, 1618-1850s and beyond. This work is meant to assist research on Virginia Carrolls; however, the text and index contain hundreds of associated names, making it a valuable resource for locating ancestral names in colonial Virginia. Maps add a delightful touch to this book. 1999, 248 pp., maps, bibl., fullname index, paper back."
You can find the book by going to:
http://www.heritagebooks.com
and doing a search of the Book Store. Cost is $24.50. Catalog number #ZF577.
I am in no way related to either the store or the author - just providing information. At one time I did lookups, but can not do that at the present time.
