Deborah,
I'm not an expert, but my great grandmother was Mary Jessy CARRELL, and she
was a staunch Catholic, not Protestant. Is there a resource that explains
this spelling division between religions?
Thanks,
Judith in CA
Searching LEBLANC-CARRELL, WEICH-HUNGER
Hi, Just as a point of information. A lot of times the spelling of the
name Carrell means they were prodistant (sp? sorry been up all night) and
the spelling of Carroll meant they were catholic. Some times both spellings
would be in the same family. I have heard that Carroll was originally
O'Carroll and it changed when they emigrated.
I have both.
My ancestor changed his name from James Carrell to James Carroll just
because his mail went to the imigrant family down the road and he got mad.
All my Carrell/Carroll are in Pennslvania.
Good luck, Irene

I am looking for information on William CARROLL & Mary LYNN. I seem to
have hit a wall.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am including all the

William CARROLL & Mary LYNN
William CARROLL b: in Born in Ireland - came to US before age 20 -
It may be possible that William came to Fayette County, PA with a
brother, Daniel, and a Roman Catholic Priest, however, I do not know for
sure that he even had a brother. William was a farmer and records state
that that he was one of the earliest settlers of the region. The most
distinguishing characteristic of William is that he was Roman Catholic
until the age of 40, when he joined the Presbyterian Church of
Uniontown, PA.. He was an active member of the church and served as an
Elder for many years. Newspaper articles state that William was cousin
to Charles Carroll of Carrollton. William and May had 12 children. The
only children I have found are, Mary and Daniel Lynn Carroll.
. +Mary LYNN b: in Born in Ireland - came to US age 10
Children of William and Mary:
Mary CARROLL b: 1831 in Philadelphia, PA who married Martin GAUL
b: October 03,
1830 in Phildelphia, PA m:1853 d: September 06, 1856 in Phildelphia,

Matilda Souder GAUL b: August 1856 in Phildelphia,

Daniel Lynn CARROLL b: May 10, 1797 in Fayette County, PA d:
November 23, 1851 in Philadelphia, PA - Daniel was a Presbyterian
clergyman - Rev. Dr. Daniel Lynn Carroll From the Lychfield, Conn.
newspaper, Enquirer, April 20,1905: "At the age of twenty he (Daniel
Lynn) united with the Presbyterian church of Uniontown, Penn., under the
care of Rev. William Wylis. His father, meeting with pecuniary reverses
about this time, he relinquished his intention of preparation for
college, and besides laboring on the farm, superintended a department in
an iron foundry, giving all his earnings into the common household
stock. At twenty-one he taught school for a year and a half,".. .
Daniel attended Jefferson College and Princeton Theological Seminary.
Daniel married: +Anna Turk HALSTED b: December 28, 1805 m: September

Presbyterian clergyman. He may have had a brother who moved to Colorado
he married. There is a Mary Carroll Bradford of Colorado who sent a
picture to her uncle (Lynn Carroll)in the mid 1800s. Joseph Halsted

SOME where, SOME one must know SOME thing about my ancestor!
Looking for any info about Daniel Carroll (wife = Nancy Sampe or Barbara
Cold(g)swell) of Uniontown, PA. Apparently moved to Ohio ca 1850s
He is the father of my GGGrandmother, Melvina (nee Carroll) Reynolds.
I have him attending Melvina's marriage in 1851in Uniontown.
Melvina and her husband, Granville Reynolds moved to Illinois thereafter
where he fought with the Illinois Volunteers in the Civil War. She raised
my GGrandmother Martha in the Abingdon-Galesburg (knox Co) area of Illinois
and is buried there.
I would love to hear from ANY one with ANY info (or clues) about this man
or his descendants or ancestors.
Have much to share.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
New to the list of people looking for Carrolls. I am searching for
information on: Edward Carroll (father Mordecai Carol and Rachel) born 1770
in South Carolina and married Nancy Charity Dickey.
Hi all,
Just joined the list. I am searching for information
on Kate Aubry Carroll. She was born in 1858 in
Mississippi to John D. Carroll and Hannah Lea. She
married Almarine Vandiver Wigley 7 Jul 1878 in
Freestone County, Texas and died 1889 in Gail, Borden
County, Texas. She had five children: Wanetta
(Juanita) Vandiver, Cordelia Malinda, Lilla Shell,
Alva Kate, and Euna Lee. I have no other information
on her parents.
Kate Carroll may be related to Richmond Taylor
Carroll, who married Almarine Wigley's sister, Johnnie
Vaden Wigley, in June of 1878 in Freestone County,
Texas.
Thanks for any help.
Heather

Mary,
I just looked the following record for you at the LDS Family Search at
http://www.familysearch.org/
With this information you can go to a Local LDS Family History Center to
learn more about the M712582 information batch. I don't know if that will
help or not. Just don't trust anything until you research it yourself!
You can contact the Registrar of Deeds (or Clerk, etc.) in Columbia,
Georgia. If it is a marriage bond, the person co-signing it MIGHT be the
father of James or Luquilla. If it is a license, it might tell you several
things.
