William Carroll born abt. 1784 in MD, DE, or NC. married Sarah Cantrell
1819 in Rockingham, NC. William and his children (Hannah, Henry, Lucinda,
William, John, Daniel, and Andrew) moved to McNairy Co. TN after Sarah's
death. I have a fair amount of information about William's descendants but
can't find anything about his ancestors. It's possible that his father's
name was Henry. Also, like many others there maybe a connection to Charles
Carroll of Carrolton.

My grandmother's name was HELEN CARROLL, born Dec 22, 1895, I believe in
Morristown N.J. She was married to Russell V. Deats Sr.
She had one brother, WILLIAM CARROLL, and two sisters, EMMA CARROLL and
MARION CARROLL.
Her brother William Carroll married a woman named Florence, maiden name
unknown.
Emma Carroll was married to Pierce Walsh, and Marion Carroll married Harold
Mills.
Their parents were DANIEL CARROLL, (b: 1865, d: 1930) and ROSE MARION
SCHOCKLIN (b: 1860, d: 1917). They were married at Hanover Presbyterian
Church, Hanover NJ in June of 1887.
Thanks for any connections or help.
My Carroll was from Hugginstown, Co. Kilkenny. My gg grandmother Ellen
Carroll(abt.1833 - 1917) emigrated abt. 1852 and married Owen Donahue in
Joliet, IL in 1856. They lived in Frankfort, IL for about 30 years,
then resettled in Palo Alto Co., Iowa. Children were: Christopher,
Daniel, John, Anna, Owen, Ellen, Eva and James.
Ellen Carroll Donahue had several siblings that also emigrated and
settled in IL and elswhere:
John Carroll(married Margaret Beard), Richard Carroll(married Katherine
Bean), James Carroll(married Alice Mahar, Ann Walsh) and Thomas Carroll.
Several siblings of Ellen Carroll Donahue did not emigrate, but stayed
in Hugginstown, Co. Kilkenny area:

Dear CARROLL rootsweb:
I would love to connect with other descendants of James CARROLL who was born
14 May 1818 in County Queens, Ireland (Queens formerly known as Leix and now
known as Laois) to see if we can work together to find his origins in
Ireland. I can place this James CARROLL in Janesville, Rock Co, Wisconsin in
1851-57.
Among his descendants, it has been recorded that it is likely that he had a
1st marriage to an Unknown woman and that his 1st marriage resulted in the
birth of a daughter, Alice CARROLL, b. 1852 in Janesville, WI.
Also, among his descendants, it has been recorded that his 2nd wife was named
Jane DONOVAN, however, I have found church records from St. Patrick's Church
in Janesville which show a James Carrell marrying Jane DUNNIGAN on 5 Jan
1857. [Jane Dunnigan was born June, 1830 in County Meath, Ireland.]
Janesville, Wisconsin St. Patrick's Church Baptism records for 1 Nov 1857
show John CARROLL, b. 8 Oct 1857, baptized with Nicholas and Mary Dunnigan as
sponsors. I am quite convinced that this is the same James CARROLL and that
his 2nd wife's name was indeed Jane DUNNIGAN. In 1859, James CARROLL/Jane
DUNNIGAN moved to Cresco, Howard Co, Iowa where the remainer of their
children were born.
James Carroll, died 30 September 1898 and Jane Dunnigan Carroll died August
1900 in Cresco, Howard Co, Iowa. They are buried in Calvery Cemetery in the
same plot with Alice Carroll, [d. 1870] James' daughter from his 1st marriage.
The children of James CARROLL/Jane DUNNIGAN were:
Alice CARROLL (1852-1870)--never married
John CARROLL(1857-1914)-- m. Elizabeth F. WRIGHT, 1885, Cresco, Iowa
Mary CARROLL(1859-1918)--m. Patrick MCCARVILLE, 1883, Cresco, Iowa
Edward Howard CARROLL(1861-1914)--m. Cynthia Margaret HANEGAN, 1882, Logan,
Iowa
Jane (Jennie) A. CARROLL(1863-1953)--m. John W. DALY, 1895, Cresco, Iowa
James Joseph CARROLL (1865-1932)--m. Margaret Ann KINNEY, 1890, Cresco, Iowa
Charles D. CARROLL (1867-)--m. Mary Ellen 'Mayme' KENNELLY, 1900, Cresco, Iowa
William CARROLL(1870-)--no further information
Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" CARROLL (1873-1955)--M. Albert James GLASS, 1895,
Cresco, Iowa
Ellen (Nellie) A. CARROLL(1877-1930)--m. Elias John TERRY, 1895, Cresco, Iowa
Would love to hear from anyone connected to this family.

All,
Looking for information on the ancestors and descendants of CARROLL,
James, b. 1768, Armagh Co., Ireland, who married Margaret POTTLE and
emigrated to St. Johns, Newfoundland, CAN around 1788. His son Patrick
and Patrick's sons, Patrick, William and Charles Negus established
adjoining farms in Carroll's Ridge, near Fredericton, New Brunswick, CAN.
In 1854 Charles Negus and family emigrated to Utah, finally settling in
Orderville.

William Wesley CARROLL is my grandfather. He was born 3-25-1915 in
Birmingham, Alabama. He had two brothers, Emory and Robert, and a sister
named Susie.
Their parents were William Andrew CARROLL and Pauline Sellers. Pauline is
shown in AL census with Robert and William but the last name is spelled
CARRELL.
Grandad says that William Andrew was from St. Louis.

My Carroll line began in Ireland into Maryland in the 1600s...We have a large
brick wall from this piece of information until the about 1750 when we have
dates of the children born there --My gggg grandfather was Samuel Carroll
born August 13.1757 in Maryland he married Christianna Stephens or (Steffey)
about 1776 in Tenn.
They moved to Virginia now West Virginia and lived in Greenbrier County.
I need help finding his parents. We thought his father's name was William but
we can't prove it or locate enough information to connect. We do find some
records for William but we are not sure it is the same one. Here is the rest
of this line
Charles, Clement, Peter, Philip, Stephen and Elizabeth (March 6, 1756) and
Samuel in 1757
Samuel was a Methodist Minister
I really need help to contact the Maryland Genealogy Society or any
records/books you might have that could help me research....Any Idea's would
be Appreciated.
Thank you Carolyn Blatt
Anita,
The Isabella Carroll daughter of James Carroll was born in 1861 therefore she couldn't have shown up on a census for 1860. She does however show on the 1870 census for Bradley County. She was also known as Belle Carroll. In one obit for a family member she was misspelled as Bill Carroll. I have to do some in depth research in an effort to find some documentation for her. She does show in the Bradley County marriage records in addition to the census. An uncle of mine which is her grandson is living in Cleveland and I will get with him to find out what he knows.
Isabella's son James Robert moved his family to Dayton, Ohio for several years where my mother and father met and is my birthplace. He moved back to Cleveland about 3 or 4 years before his death from tuberculosis in 1933. At that time my uncle was still a minor and he would remember more than my mother who didn't return to Cleveland till my father retired in 1970.
I also have a brother who is researching our families and he has been in contact with other researchers who are working along the same lines One of the things holding up our research in the McSpadden family is the fact that we had a recent major breakthrough of a brick wall on our paternal side of the family and have 8 or 9 new surnames to deal with one of which we were able to "jump the pond" with. We are now searching in Germany as well as the States.

Hi Carroll Researchers.
I am looking for any information regarding my great grandfather's
parents and/or siblings. His name is Patrick Joseph Carroll who was born
around 1827, supposedly in Ireland. He came over to the USA in the
1840's. His family never communicated with him again, except for one
sister who write to him, because they were upset that he came over to
the USA.
He married a woman 20 years his junior, Margaret Ann Gibney from Ashley,
PA (near Wilkes Barre, PA) and they moved to Beaver Falls, PA. He died
around 1917 or 1918. She died in 1935.
They had three children. If there were more I do not know the names.
1. Thomas A. Carroll born 1877 in Beaver Falls and married Frances ??.
They had four children, three girls and a boy. This family subsequently
moved to Indianapolis, IND. Thomas died in 1929 of a CVA/stroke that he
had at his daughter's wedding reception. Their children were:
1. daughter who married Frank Langsenhamp
2. Hilda Carroll
3. Margaret Carroll
4. Thomas Carroll
I do not have any information on any of their descendents.
2. Christopher Carroll who died in an accident.
3. Charles Joseph Carroll born 1887, died 1955 in Beaver Falls, PA and
married Mary Theresa Koessler. They had three children who were:
1. George Patrick Carroll born 1910 died 1977.
married Mary Mosora.
2. Ruth Marie Carroll born 1915 died 1997.
married Harold Roy Funkhouser.
3. Alice Jean Carroll born 1920 died 1987.
married William C. Blosser.
If anyone has any info, I would be glad to hear from you.

I am looking for information about my paternal gg grandfather,
CHARLES R.CARROLL b. abt.1876, m. ADA UNDERWOOD Feb. 3 1867 in Conway
Springs, KS. They later moved to La Veta, CO and had two sons, Oliver( my g
grandfather) and Matthew and a daughter, Muriel.
I can find NOTHING on Charles R. Carroll or his parents although my
grandmother says that he was related to Charles Carroll of Carrollton. I have
yet to find any proof since my search has been halted so early in the family
tree. ( We are also supposedly related to John Adams and John Quincy Adams on
my paternal
g-grandmothers side.)
I didnt meet my father until I was in my mid 20's and I am very
anxious to find out "where I come from" but other than nationality, no one
seems to know.
I would appreciate any help.
