I will be in Ireland for a week to some genealogical research on the Carroll name.
I'm new to the list and don't have my genealogical sources with me at the moment.
I'm basically wondering if there are any list members IN Ireland that would be
amenable/accessible for such research efforts, willing to 'point in the general
direction' for when I do have my questions. thanks

his is a long shot, but worth a try. I am seeking possible connections
of my Great Grandfather, Francis "Frank" Edwin Carroll, to relations
from Liverpool, England or Ireland. He might have been born in Ireland,
but lived in Liverpool in his youth. We have estimated from census
records that he was born in 1852. His parents (unknown) died, Frank
orphaned was given to his Aunt (unknown) in Liverpool. It is unknown if
he had other siblings, but he might had. At age 7 he was put on a
seafaring ship as a cabin boy and sailed between Liverpool and Dublin,
Boston, & New York. Later he married Mary Kieley, from Lowell MA, and
settled in Gloucester MA. He was a master fisherman and captained his
own schooner, the 'MFC.' In his twilight years, Frank captained the
ferry
boat in the Boston harbour. Does anyone have any ideas how to search
for a birth certificate in Liverpool and/or search for a record of legal
guardianship of an orphan in Liverpool for the mid-1800's period.
Thanks in advance for any help.

My name is Robert Lindsay Carroll Jr. My Grandfather was originally
named Masonic Lodge Carroll and had a brother named Church Carroll. They
lived in York South Carolina. I know very little about the Carroll
Family. Masonic Lodge married Blanche Lindsay and changed his name to
Mason L. Carroll. He owned and opperated a general store in York. He and
my grandmother had five children Alph, Mason, Robert, Blanche and Rose.
Is anyone out there related or do you know of this Carroll family. We
have the Lindsay family traced back to the Mayflower. My Grandmother (
Blanche Lindsay Carroll ) was active in the DAR so she had all of the
history of her family but I know nothing of the Carrolls.
Arthur or Anthony Carrell (Carroll) living in Ftichburg, MA around 1860. Married to Deninia Poupard. Children including Edward (Edouard) and Eugene and daughters. Need DOB, POB, DOM and POM, DOD and POD. Any help will be appreciated.

Just came across what looks like a good source for antique books:

Might be of interest to some of you.
By the way, we are now close to 150 members on our Carroll Family Discussion List.
Cheers.
