I am responding to this message of John's that was sentt to the cd group
but was posted to tml.
Is anyone in the cd group NOT on the TmL list?
John said:

Very true. John. One is an audio Cd and one a computer cd and they are not
the same.
It takes about 30 man-months to make an interactive cd rom, really cool and
professional and deep. I am thinking of that for the future, but now as the
beginning of the data gathering, an informaational cd for us, teamers.
If we want to mass producse them, we could make a Master with Sony for
around $700, then order them in increments of 100, forever. See:
sdm.sony.com/services
But It should be a really polished thing for that, and more
generalized...like a teaching tool for the public.
There might be some who DON"Twant their faces spread all over the globe in
a treaching mission cd rom?
We still haven't decided as a group who owns transcripts...the transmitter?
Do I need to getpermission from the transmitter to use any?
We wanted pictures of groups but do all groups want to be included?
Hmmm...data gathering, or a questionalire mailed out? What about groups who
don't have email? Maybe we should consider this tml-team list as a "group"
and do it inthat context? An email group cd rom? It gets confusing doesn't
it.
I would like see some basic teaching mission stuff together, but it would
be nice to take our time with it and work up a really beautiful thing. You
know, like a couple betas over time, getting input and testing it with
eachother.
I am thinking an IN MISSION thing right now...just for us! so we can see
what we do and who we are and get to know each other better.
I think the music thing, by itself, separately, might be good as I am aware
that there are many many musicians out there who would like to be included.
This interactive thing would be more like a web page on a cd...with
different levels of information and stuff. In fact, we could probably make
it a web site at some time. i am more of an artist than a musician so i
think in images instead of just songs and voices. I like John's idea of
moving ahead with what we can and keeping in touch with each other as we go.
Lets keep talking!

HI Guys,
This message from Harold ...HI HArold! ...somehow left Thea off.
I count 17 people on most cc lists but here is one that makes 18, if we add
Thea back on.
Who is Carroll? Seems to be the new one not on my address book.

Hello,
Thea says:
Another option is a hybrid disk, but there are several problems with
that, one being that it cuts back on the amount of either you can have on
a single CD. It's also trickier to produce from a technical standpoint.
So perhaps it would be wise to make this separate projects.
Reply,
I think for reasons mentioned by Thea and others that this would be better
being two seperate projects with everyone contributing to whichever project
they choose.
I mentioned earlier that it would be nice to know who's planning what so we
could get a better idea of the scope of each project. Are we all planning a
"music only" contribution except for Thea and Delores? Are there other
"multimedia" folks out there? For myself, I'm planning a music CD
contribution though if there's any way I can contribute, perhaps midi-wise,
to the Multi thing, I would love to do so. What say you all?
Harold
Everyone,
I've been busy with stuff lately and have been feeling like I've been
neglecting this list though I've been reading all the posts. This
Mulitmedia thing that Delores, Mark and Thea are discussing is very
interesting, perhaps because I know so little about the process. I've also
had a spurt of creativity lately and have written two new "Urantia-based"
songs, perhaps one will eventually make it on the CD! Anyway, I'm enjoying
the posts and think it's very interesting to watch this project develop. I
will check in again soon. Isn't life grand!?
Onward,
Harold
I have a wealth of info on the early Carrolls of Northumberland County, New Brunswick, Canada. This county encompasses the Miramichi Bay and River basin. It, along with St. John was a shipbuilding economy in the mid-1800s.
I have lots of Carroll info from about 1810 through the end of the century.
If you think your Carrolls might have roots there, let me know.

Doug response......
Lyn,
The following was posted to the CARROLL list; thought it might relate to
the info you were looking for on James Carrell. Looks like James, s/o
Benjamin, b. 1803, NC(?) could possibly be the James you find in 1849 in
TN. Although I don't see any name correlations, this may provide a
lead.
Regards,
Doug
