Dear Lauren,
If you have read the responses you've received so far and tried to wade
through the technical stuff you are probably suffering sensory overload,
and, possibly, feeling that you are somehow discriminated against. Please
remember that this whole avenue of study is VERY new and advances are made
on a daily basis. To understand how it all got started, I recommend a
relatively new book "The Seven Daughters of Eve" that I think does an
excellent job of step-by-step recording how it all began only about ten
years ago. It reads like one of the better detective novels and is far more
factual than an episode of CSI-Somewhere. Yes! You can get involved -
although maybe not as you wish - but it can be a great comfort to understand
that you are a part of something that began before the dawn of recorded
history.
