I would think Haplogroups R1b, I in its subclades, and R1a, as those are
the most common Haplogroups in S. W. Germany today.. R1b dominates Irish
Y-DNA genealogy. There can be no doubt about that, except for one
'clan'.which is mostly R1a. I don't recall which one, but not Carroll.
This German migration to Ireland is a fascinating bit of history defintely
not taught in the normal curriculum. We are re-educating ourselves in our
hunt for ancestors.

I began to look and learned there is even a
Rootsweb Mail List for them as IRL-PALATINE-L. I wondered if a name

would come out as "Carroll" might be included, but I
didn't find one... although I did find a person with the given
name of
Carrol.
I wonder in what Haplogroup most of them are ?
