Peter,
I had a good laugh over your statement, "I think my wife sometimes
wishes those records weren't
so easily available!" That scenario plays out in many households in
the US, so I'm sort of glad to know it does in England, also.
I was lucky, because my husband and I both were smitten with a desire
to research our families about the same time, and the internet came to
our area just after he retired. However, I always advise.... The dead
will still be dead tomorrow. The living may not still be living
tomorrow. Maybe you can get her interested in genealogy, too.

: Jim,
:
: As you say, technology is really changing the way family history is
: researched, although I think my wife sometimes wishes those records
weren't
: so easily available! You've obviously had a lot of success using DNA
: testing, and hopefully I'll be just as lucky.
:
: There was a geneticist on a radio programme over here a short while
ago who
: believes that, as research into DNA progresses, it'll become an even
more
: powerful tool in genealogy in the very near future. All very
exciting stuff!
