For "Mike Carroll" <cavan(a)usfamily.net>
I don't think I understand.
Kit # 31491 is shown in the Carroll Project Chart at
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/carroll/default.aspx?section=yresults
That means that it has been tested by FamilyTreeDNA.
Since the letters which Rootsweb sends out on the CARROLL-DNA
mail list goes to all the people who have joined this list,
perhaps you thought I was speaking to soneone else. I was
writing to the attention of the person who has been tested using
Kit #31491.

| Hi,

have other

|
| Hello to kit # 31491,
|
| I see from the Y-DNA chart that you have extended to 67
markers,
| and that you join the Sampson/Duplin County, NC bunch in having
| ** where there should be a numeral on DYS 425 to indicate now
| many repetitions of a pattern of bases are located at that spot
| on the chromosome. As I understand, there is dna material
there,
| but it is arranged in such a way that there is no pattern to
| count. (That is probably not worded correctly.) Anyway, FTDNA
| says we should treat that as we would any other marker - just
one
| feature to compare.
|
| I just tried to do a comparison on YSearch and saw that you
have
| not yet uploaded your 38-67 markers. I would encourage you to
do
| that as soon as it is convenient for you to do so. It is very
| difficult for some of us with "senior citizen" eyes to try to
| compare the numbers by reading from the chart.
|
| I did attempt to compare using your first 37 markers and do not
| find that you match within a genetic distance of 6 with my
cousin
| # 32061. Maybe markers 38-67 will bring that closer.
|
| It does seem that most I have known about who have that anomaly
| are Scots-Irish. Now if I can just find out WHERE my ancestor
| lived before he came to the North American colonies! I think
we
| are getting closer -- one DNA test at a time.
|
| Do I remember that you wrote a long time ago about going to
| Northeastern Ireland and locating a grave stone with the name
| most commonly used in your Carroll lineage?
