Our interest on this mail list is to understand, use, and promote
the use of DNA as a tool in learning our CARROLL ancestry. For
that purpose we use the method of testing adopted by
FamilyTreeDNA for showing similarities between the profiles of
those who sent samples of their DNA. Several other labs use
basically the same technique.
Don't let the following article confuse you. It has nothing to
do with our Carroll DNA Project, but I thought some of you might
like to know that a new method of DNA sequencing is being
developed by IBM. You can read about it here
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8291185.stm
Maybe someday it won't take six weeks to get a sample tested.
However, this may never be a practical aid for genealogy. Just
thought you might be interested in knowing about it.
